If the Rockets had a big backup PG or a SG that could run point while Alston is out, Head could guard the PG while not having the ball in his hands offensively. A big PG may help in feeding the post as well. This draft has two guards that may fit around Rockets position. Ronnie Brewer, 6-7, is someone that could handle PG duties while Head is on the court. Probably projects as a SG due to size by most. Shot is a little wierd from arc. Height helps him shoot high percentage inside arc and around basket. Last game didn't go to well. Generally good defender. Mardy Collins, 6-6, is a big PG, Period. Excellent vision. Has good form on shot, but doesn't have a great percentage. Should be able to hit open threes, but has problems when contested. Played a lot of zone at Temple.
Big PG's aren't really traditional and I don't recall ever a team that had a big PG that was successful.
Besides Magic, Pippen played the point a lot for the Bulls which is how I envision Brewer except without actually having to have Pippen on the team again.
Well, you just said that you couldn't recall a team that had much success with a big point. Also, its Magic Johnson! But yeah, neither Mardy Collins nor Ronnie Brewer would look good on this team.
I really do not like guards and forwards who cannot dribble. If I were the GM, Head would be trade fodder this summer.
Finnally, Joe-Joe you have hit the nail on the head! Size, shooting and athleticism in the backcourt is what I have been saying that the ROX needed all a along. No more 6'1 or 6'3 guards. Please!!!!!!!
Well, JVG was quoted in the Chronicle about the Rockets having cornered the market in 6'1" shooting guards. Yep, this is a problem to be addressed.

Did you have to take a shot at me? It was opinion and again, Ronnie Brewer or Mardy Collins is no Jason Kidd. About 80% PG's in the league aren't big. Sorry the Redick thread pissed you off.
If you take that statement as fact, 20% are. 20% says "big" is not required of a PG, but there are people that are "big" that play PG. I don't see why you are considering big as a negative when it is a plus as long as the player can guard his position. Brewer and Collins are capable PG defenders who also have the size to match up with most SGs when the Rockets play a short SG. I prefer Brewer because he can start at SG and be the backup at PG. The Rockets have matchup problems when Head is in the game because he is short and without PG ballhandling skills. Head can guard the PG spot and plays the SG role on offense best. Possible Solutions...get rid of Head, get someone to cover his deficiencies, or train him as a PG. If the Rockets have the opportunity to draft someone they feel will contribute more, I'm fine with that. Brewer and Collins are more valuable to the Rockets than they would be for most teams due to team makeup.
