I really don't think it's as clear cut as you make it sound. If you're saying RIGHT NOW, Yao has been on a tear since the All Star Break, after recovering from surgery. Here are the numbers for both players post All-Star break. I think this is a fair metric, since both players have been healthy over this duration.

    YaoMing: 27.4 points, 12.1 rebounds, 2.0 blocks, 0.42 steals, and 1.8 assists.
    Garnett: 22.2 points, 14.1 rebounds, 1.6 blocks, 1.65 steals, and 3.3 assists

Maybe KG is a marginally better player overall RIGHT NOW, but Yao has closed the gap considerably. I don't think everybody would agree that KG is better right now. And when you factor in age and position, I think Yao has the advantage.

If you look at the top players in the league, there are obviously more PFs than Cs. But what does that prove? There are more top-level SFs than Cs also, but would that stop me from taking LeBron over Yao? No! No! and No!

Like I said, if GMs in the NBA were polled on a choice of KG vs. Yao it would be close. If the choices were LeBron vs. Yao it would be a blowout. The comparison of PF vs. C would be a small consideration.

In China,When asked "why did you contract with Houston so early? why don't you think about the other teams? for example L.A Lakers, they have large market...and ...,of course they have superstar Kobe..."

Yao Ming replies"okay, let me tell you why, when I was picked by Houston, I was a Houston man, here is my home, I love it, I'm sure I can win the NBA champion for Houston with T-MAC, T-MAC is my best friend, he is our superstar, he is very very great player. So please don't ask the stupid question again!"

holy crap guys, read WHY the thread was bumped. He said he wanted to show that this looks stupid now...so it should help quash the TMac for KG rumors and chalk them up to being quck on the trigger finger.

He's not (nor is anyone really) suggesting we should still trade KG for Yao...that was the old sentiment. Thread title is misleading..but read..

I can't believe how stupid some threads are here. One week is KG for T-mac,next week KG for Yao.Maybe you should put some trade ideas that may actually work, not this fantasy trades that would never work.

Note to some new members of Clutchfans: Remember to always check the date of the thread to see when it was started. This thread was from earlier in the season before Yao's toe surgerory and the team on a losing streak with TMac out. Someone only bumped this thread up to show how ridculous the previous trade suggestion was.

    -G'day-

Even so, has the poster been punished yet for making such a lowdown under the belt suggestion?

Even if you take Yao as his face value as a basketball player, with the way he is playing right now, the Rockets won't trade him for anyone in the league (you can argue about Lebron, but a dominant post player is still > a dominant wing player). Throw in the fact that Yao has tens of millions of international fans, it would be financial disaster to trade Yao for anyone.

    The only trades I will do with Yao is: Yao + garbage for Duncan + Parker/J. Oneil + Peja/Artest + Bibby + Miller/Lebron + Big Z. :)

Yao at his age is better than KG was...You guys are crazy if you want to get rid of Yao for an AGING KG....Most of these stupid thoughts are coming from the contributing members who say they know more bball than the rookies...The rockets would never trade Yao (much younger and upside) than KG>......I'm embaraassed to even have to respond to a thread like this...

Hey new kid in town, those comments by the contributing members were make back in 2005 when Yao was not playing quite up to our expectations. Even though I didn't agree with the idea back then, it was not really insane to want to trade Yao for KG at that time. Of course, with the way Yao is playing lately, I don't think too many of them still hold the same opinion.

Next time you better take a look at the post dates first before calling people stupid.

    Minnesota 31-42
    Houston 32-41

Last I heard, the Twolves weren't missing any superstar players to a back injury. So what's their excuse and why isn't KG carrying that team like he should with a healthy Ricky Davis to support him?
