Can a photoshop expert on this board use a current pick and edit it to build a "FUTURE YAO" ? It will be fun to see what he looks like with 10-20 extra pounds... He will surely be unstoppable.

The thing about this pole that I question is when did Francis become a Super Star? I know he has played as a starter for the West on two allStar Games. When I think of a Super Star I thionk Of MJ or HO or LB. Steve Francis shows great promise but not quite there yet!

Yao is the man and will be the man for years to come...

    Let's hope it's in a Rox uniform...

Francis should be considered an All- Star like Shawn Marion.

I guess I shouldn't bump a thread that's 3 years old. However, it's very interesting to see what people's expectations toward Yao were in his rookie season and what he is now. Has he reached your expectation yet? He surpassed it? Not quite? or right on?

Well I'd say he's a bonafide superstar right now and could very well be a legit MVP candidate next year. I'm surprised so many people picked the first option during Yao's rookie year. I guess his passing skills were wowing people like crazy.

I say that now, yet I look up at the poll and find out that I picked the first option as well (The one in italics is the one you voted for). Well he isn't quite there at age 25, but he might reach it at 26. :)

If you really want some nostalgia, go back a few months when Tracy was out and Yao was carrying this losing team. Almost everyone was like "Trade Yao now while his stock is high" lol. :D

Congratulations on being the first person ever on my ignore list. Welcome and enjoy your stay :) .

ps: On topic, if Yao can sustain this level of play (and improve as he has all through out his career) he should definitely be at an MVP level next year.

by the time Yao is 25 he might be averaging at least 25 PPG. and like 13 Rbg.... that'll be amazing....but by the time Yao is 25 im not sure if Tmac will still be in a Rockets uniform... but who knows

m_cable, I didn't know the Italic one is my vote, that means I was right on the money. I voted the 1st option. It's great to see my prediction somehow someway end up true. :D

Where is the "Superstar" Francis now? On the Knicks bench. What a change of fortune!

I think everything started down hill when Yao started to emerge and everyone harped on Steve's game. If you watch Steve the first 3 years he was in the league, the kid was fearless and can change a game at will.

I think once everyone started saying he needs to change his game and etc, he became unsure of himself and from that point on, you see that he tries to think too much during the games which only makes him look like he's lost on the court.

Drafting Yao was the besting for the Rockets but suprisingly worst to have happened for Steve. I think he could've become a great player but he's the type that needs positive encouragement to succeed. I think he said in an interview that when he was first drafted and started practicing, he was so in intimidated of Hakeem and Charles that he wouldn't even take a shot. He basically was doing badly until Cuttino that pulled him aside and told Steve to play "his game" and of course he went on to win the CO - ROY. Now I see him reverting back to the kid that was just not good enough (didn't start on his H.S. team, didn't get a scholarship offer out of H.S. etc).

Steve wasn't always that gifted athletically for most of his early basketball experience so I would guess he's definitely one of the more insecure pro basketball players, and the situation that he was in the last 3 years probably damaged his pyschology quite a bit.
