Must say this is a creative move. Ryan is obviously the true leader the Rockets can't afford to let slip away.

"He's a career 1.4/1.4 guy and we're just happy to get this behind us," said Van Gundy.

My sources are telling me that we are going to camp next year with Bowen and Bogans dueling it out on who starts next to TMac.

Guys, you've got it ALL wrong. Rybo wasn't signed for his on-court production, it was his behind-the-scenes attributes...

    Great move!
Finally, CD gets a quality signing done.
Ryan Bowen is one of those intense hustle players who you know will bring it every night. You can be rest assurred that no effort is lost when Rybo is playing.
After the Swift and Anderson debacle, this Bowen signing is a breath of fresh air.
Also Bowen is still young and has proven very durable throughout his career. I'm sure he can develop a decent jumpshot in no time at all. You can teach someone how to make an open jumper, but you definitely can't teach the hustle and willpower of Ryan.

anyone who questions this move needs to have their head examined...

forget Yao Ming, forget Tracy McGrady...

Ryan Bowen is the future of the Houston Rockets...

call me when they retire his jersey, I will stop everything and fly to Houston for that ceremony...

This is the kind of strong commitment the Rockets need to push them over the top next season. IMHO Bowen is a steal at 54 million -- really i'm a little surprised we got this level of hustle and determination so cheap.

I'm really mad. We could have given that kind of $ to keep Mike James.

I for one and happy with this move. It's hight time we started getting more Rockets with letter "B" last names so that we can bring the Killer Bee tradition to Toyota Center as well.

Sweet! I knew CD and JVG were too smart to let him go. Now we got him for plenty more years. :)

Do they still allow 7 year contracts? If so I'm disappointed the Rockets didn't try to add the extra year. Something like 7 years $65 million has a nice ring to it.

Bottom line is Bowen is a emerging talent. It's great that we were able to lock him up.

It's a little scary to think about the fact that Bowen could get a new contract from our new GM. He was in favor of the celtics signing Scalabrine for 3 mil/year; saying “Based on last season with the Nets, the numbers do indicate that Scalabrine makes his teammates better when he is on the floor.”

So we better hope that Bowen's presence doesn't make his teammates better!!
