NOPE. Games missed... 00-01: 1 01-02: 2 02-03: 0 03-04: 15 04-05: 4 05-06: 24 and counting People overblow his injury problems. While he missed 15 games his last year in Orlando(03-04) he sat out the last 7 games not because of his back but because of tendonitis in his knee. If Orlando hadn't been in last place he would've played with it much like last season when his tendonitis flared up around this time. He's NEVER had a season comparable to this one. Given his past....I dont understand why people dont look at this as a fluke.
Actually you're wrong. John Weisbrod made Tmac sit out those last games. His knees weren't that hurt, but Hockeyman himself bragged to the ORL Sentinel about sitting him because he didnt want him around the players anymore.
answer to this question is no, not unless u get some player that has equal skills and would work well with yao and the only player that could do that would be kobe and lakers arent gettin rid of him.....quit with all this get rid of tmac crap, a tmac and yao (now yao) combo will be one of the most dangerous combos in the nba if not one of the best ever..quit with all this get rid of tmac crap its old and there are about 50 different threds about it
A lot of these posts are good posts. No trading T-Mac whatsoever. If you want, I'll give you a bunch of reasons why I think T-Mac will be good to go next season. Just let me know.
If you are thinking about trading TMac if he is not healthy, then this offseason would be the time to do it. Right now, there is hope that he will come back strong and that this will not hamper him to this level the rest of his career. If it happens again next season, then his value drops to nearly zero, and we are stuck with either a non-playing TMac or some collection of scrubs because we have no leverage (see: the crap we got for Quitten). I would love to have a healthy TMac for the rest of his productive years. I am also concerned that his back problems are chronic and that his best years are behind him. Even when he was not out, TMac was not driving to the basket anymore this season, and there are a lot of players out there that can shoot 40% from the field and 30% from downtown. I think you have to see what deals are out there for him, and if you get a deal as good as the one rumored with Minny (TMac and a 2nd rounder for Garnett and their 1st rounder as the primary parts) then you have to pull the trigger. People who are concerned about having two post players 1) do not very clearly remember how good this team was when we had a healthy Barkley and Dream, and 2) have not seen much of Kevin Garnett. Those two would make a killer high-low combination in the post, like Duncan and Robinson in Duncan's first championship. Garnett would also be awesome for our defense because he can team with Yao to shut down the paint, but is also very rangey and can close out on shooters with his speed and length. Above all, there are no injury concerns floating over his head. Adding 2 lottery picks to Rockets team that has swapped TMac for McGrady would put us in title contention next season. I think there are other possible deals out there as well if the front office can get a little creative. How about TMac and Swift to the Clippers for Mobley, Livingston and Brand? That would plug all of our holes and we could ship out the injury concerns around McGrady and the inconsistancy of Swift. If we don't trade TMac, then we are rolling the dice on his health. If he is healthy, then fine. If he is not, then this team will not recover for a long time.
Exactly. There are deals out there that could make sense if there is any indication that TMac will not be at full strength. However, if he can come back strong, I would want to keep him. I agree that if we are to trade him, the offseason is the time to make it happen.
the rockets had one good year with that team, they won championships with one post player and compliments, as a matter of fact I think san antonio is the only team ever to win a championship built around two post players at least in the last 25 years. edit: I would say that the rockets didn't benefit from having two good post players because you limit the effectiveness of who doesn't have the ball. I can remember numerous times hakeem coming down court and looking lost when he didn't have the ball. that team won a lot of games because it was so talented with three future hall of famers but in the end it wasn't effective.
All of you hypocrites give me a break. You sit there and slobber all over a much inferior player in Bob Sura who hasnt been healthy in a couple of years at least, and you release the seed in your underwear anticipating his return, but you want to trade Tmac because of one anomaly of a season.
Firstly, when healthy, that team was awesome, and they would have won a championship if Malone wasn't allowed to bear hug Drexler. In '96-'97 the Rockets were 41-12 in games Barkley played in, that works out to a 63 win team with guys at the tail end of their careers. Later they had a lot of problems with injuries to Charles and the general deterioration of Hakeem, but when the big three were all on the court at a high level, that team was smokin'. Now, Garnett is not Barkley and Yao is not Hakeem, but obviously 2 skilled post players can play together. Secondly, Garnett would be killer as a complementary/off the ball player. The big knock on him is that he doesn't demand the ball enough in the 4th quarter and that he doesn't bang enough in the post. We would be letting him float around the free throw line area/top of the key and feed off of Yao. That would be perfect for his game.
The lack of chemistry and the injury problem has been killing the team absolutely. But this is really a blessing in disguise. Tmac can have a long vacation to heal his injured back. Luther Head is showing some offensive performance like he did in NCAA. Stro is steadily improving his parameter shootings. Bogans and Hayes fuel the team with energy. Rafer seems to be a good SG deal for us. And most importantly, we see a dominant Yao playing. Maybe next season we will be better.
T-Mac tradeable? Phoenix made noise last year about trading Marion. I would take Marion and maybe Diaw for T-Mac. Phoenix is loaded and seems to be able to plug players into their system of late. McGrady would thrive playing in that system, He would be unbelievable. Marion and Diaw would give us exactly what we need. I'd do that trade.
If TMAC is healthy ..we dont' trade him..he is a top 5 player....I'm hoping he toughens up a little bit....He should show his team, his fans, his critics, and everybody how tough he is by comeing bakc this season and helping the rockets make a final push for the playoffs..so what if he reinjures his back...he has 4 months to rest but it will make people believe...He said himself if we have a shot at playoffs, he woudl come back...well if we win a few more games we are in it...he should do it to quiet all the doubters...I really want him back for teh SAC game...come on TMAC do it for the fans and for your teammates...I think it will help stop this crap about trading him...however, if the rockets doctors think that this will be an ongoingn problem they should look further into it..but you can't get rid of him unless yo are sure and you are getting a GREAT player in return..when he is healthy *many of us seem to forget how unstoppable he is......Go Rockets..I still believe ....
