Yao is so ironwilled that he wants to win every game when he is in the match. There is no "give up" in his dictionary!
I seems that way with Yao. He has that never give up, attitude, which is evident with the way he plays. thank the gods that we have him.
Two Really Dumbass threads in one day. the other one was, were up 30 and JVG is'nt playing the bench. really, this board is one of the best websites on the net, but lets not ruin it by starting such useless trivial threads.
When a war is lost, there's no use winning a battle. Moral victory at the expense of future is dummy's manhood.
Still better than the current roster which has no future. Seriously, they should just cancel the game like yesterday. Totally meaningless other than stat padding for everyone.
At least the "inknown" commodity has so much odds of being better than a known commodity, say Ryan Bowen. I don't need pride or honor or justice. This is just a freaking game. Give me rings or give me lottery.
I really don't understand that logic. Actually, I do, draftwise but I can not as a fan ever complain about my team winning. These guys are Pros and they will continue to compete and play to win, if they weren't I'd be really pissed. While a chunk of the players on the team right now will not be here next year, there still are players who could play important roles next year, Bogans, Head in particular. I would rather they play hard this year and be that much better next year than not. Same goes for Yao and Rafer, they have been playing well and need to have something positive to finish the season on. Besides, there are no real earth shattering college players in this years draft, at least IMHO
In my book this team has already lost this season. Rooting for meaningless wins is technical fanship. I don't care about sustaining momentum, Yao's proven to me he's got it. We'd be back on top if T-Mac is healhty next season, but what decides next season's ending, apart from health, is the talent level of this team - not some momentum carrying over to the next season IMHO.
Well that's your opinion but I think there are few players on the squad who do need some good momentum to carry over into next season.
Talk of deliberately tanking always bothers me. As a competitive athelete always want to do your best and tanking just goes against that you are. I've never played pro-sports but I know in my own sports I've had to give up a few times because of injury and it just feels terrible even though you know that if you continue it will be worse for you in the long run.
Its threads of this ilk that solidify my claim that the overall sports IQ on the BBS has gone waaaaaaaayyyyy down... Nobody is going to play to lose if they have any kind of competitive nature about them. And if they do play to lose I don't want them on my team. Its also important for the teams confidence and pride that they win as many games as possible and play hard in every game. The players have to learn how to win together as a collective.
I remember San Antonio deliberately tanking for the 97' draft. That got them multiple championships. I know there are no Tim Duncan's in this draft, but it could produce a better than average PF or SG for the rockets. Its also an opportunity for the rockets to add quality size without breaking the bank. The diffrence between drafting 10-13 is huge compared to picking between 6-8. If I'm the GM ala the 97' Greg Popovich, all I would do right now is just shut the season down and think about the big picture.
