He is threshing the B league since coming back from the Sonics. ( 30 + points ). Should we take a chance on him? He may make a nice 3rd scoring option for next year, especially if we trade Stro.
He gets his points inside the paint. If I'm not mistaken he was the the number 2 pick when drafted ( behind Kmart ). He is undersized at 6'8, however he may have a better developed game than Stro.
Sorry, P.J. is not Fizer. He lacks about 30 pounds, does not have the inside game, and has much better slashing, perimeter shooting ability. If Fizer is undersized....that's a bunch of garbage. Elton Brand is not any bigger. Besides Stro has 1 inch of height on him but probably gives up 40 pounds to him. They are different kind of players. There is nothing wrong with having a 6'8" 260 pound sack of muscle in the paint banging for boards and inside buckets. The only thing stopping Fizer is Fizer. He's got to bring it when he gets his next shot and not expect anything to be given to him. I'd like to see him get a shot with us for the end of this season. We haven't got anything to lose.
Someone brings up Fizer every ten seconds. How come nobody brings up Keon Clark. That guy had promise AND size...
I don't usually post, but I feel obligated to do so here. I am an Austin Toros season ticketholder. I have seen Fizer play many times this year. There is a GOOD reason that he's not playing in the NBA. He just jacks up shots left and right, rarely passes, dribbles WAY too much, he's selfish, and he has a bad attitude. The other day when he scored 40+ points, when another team member shot the ball, instead of runing to the basket for a rebound, he took off running for the other basket. This happened 5 or 6 times. He can score on D-Leaguers, but -- for the Rockets -- he would be an 8 ppg player with a 30% FG% and mucho turnovers. And, Van Gund would NEVER stand for his crap.
When I've saw Marcus Fizer practicing before a game, I imagined a physical specimen with average athletic ability and a scorer. As the game went on he proved to be nothing more than a tub-of-lard, being a black hole, and not contributing in any way to a team. Seriously this guy does not pass, does not play defense, and it's extremely lazy. Is it really worth it?
I watched Fizer a lot when he was with Chicago (I lived in Chi-town for a couple of years back then). He was a good offensive player at times. I still remember him absolutely abusing Kwame Brown in one game. However, Fizer had a horrible feel for the game and his defense was sub-par. And he was extremely unlucky with two severe knee injuries that derailed his career. I haven't seen him in the D League. I wonder how much his defense has improved. If he doesn't improve on his D he will have no chance making it back to the NBA.
