So much for a draft without highschoolers. My gut says Eddy Curry and Diop will follow.

Wow, that is interesting.... if you didn't know about Chandler, he's been talked about since birth practically... he was being called the next Kareem as he started high school. Imagine being 7-feet tall at 14? That's amazing...

He even appeared on 60 Minutes when he was 14 saying he planned on going to the NBA straight out of high school... guess he followed through.

He's very quick and agile and has a nice mid-range shot... excellent defender too who blocks shots around the basket very well. The knock is however, and it's legit, that he needs serious bulk.

The guy is overrated... He gets his clock cleaned when he plays competition equal or better than him... See Eddy Curry...

Thanks for the link Nike. Very good news. I really like the guy, adding bulk is a normal thing and nothing impossible. Perhaps we might be able to get him if he slips like Al or Lewis.

Thats great, but i sure wish he would go to college at least for a year. He would really help the college game out. But once he declares he cant go back, so I hope he hits it big in the NBA. I've seen a few highlights of him and he looks real good. Quick, athletic, great shot blocker. I see him playing PF in the nba, a lot like KG. I think he'll be really good in years to come, and have several all-star appearances.

Ok, let's see Eddy Curry. They've met one time and Chandler's team won the game (54-50)and both players scored 16 points. Chandler was 7-10 from the floor and Curry was 5-18. Is that what you call getting his "clock cleaned"?

Keep in mind these things aren't exactly real critical or thorough, but at least you can get an idea of the athleticism, sort of...

It's intresting to note that he blocks everything with his left hand. I didn't remember him being a lefty. If he isn't a lefty but rather has worked on it, it is shows some attention to detail.

If he is a lefty, well... that just shows that I need to get a life and stop tweaking on these little details.

One of those blocks that he did, he was falling down to the ground. I bet that hurt.

    I can't even imagine being 6'0 at 14.

But, as a basketball player, I would rather be average height until high school, and then grow into you full height.

    Like Dave Robinson.

This teaches you to dribble, shoot, and do all other things that guards do better than big man.

nice clip Otto. Good attention to detail on the lefty thing, I wonder if he is? Left handers are always better. [IMG]

The sick thing is he had that many highlight-reel type blocks in one game.

From what I've heard he's an excellent shooter as well (has the range for the college 3 already). What would Rudy give to have a 7 foot athlete who blocks shots like crazy and can hit from long range?

Nikestrad -- Is his game like a posting up type game like Eddy Curry who takes u inside? Or does he have game like Garnett, where is just athletic all around, shoot and drive?

Francis3-Curry is about 6'10'' and weighs anywhere from 280-300 lbs.

Chandler is 7'1'' and 220 is about where he stands. Chandler at this point could not withstand playing down low. I haven't seen too much (not many have) of either, but based on what I can infer, he's probably the closest "Next KG" yet. He's got that insanely long frame with incredible shot blocking ability and decent touch. The only thing that can possibly stop Chandler from being a superstar is his body. If he can put on the necessary muscle/weight/strength, he'll be the real deal. He's oozing in athleticism and talent, but right now his body won't hold up with the NBA bangers.

Upon further review it appears that Chandler is indeed left handed. So much for the finer aspects of his game, but as a lefty that makes him an instant fit with the Rockets when we win the lotto.

As for the weight thing, physicaly he doesn't seem that much worse off than Loren Woods, or even someone like Keon Clark, who plays both PF and C.

If you're running a motion type offense wher he can use quickness to get position he can play a stand-off, shot-blocking type of 'D' ala Robert Horry vs. Charles Barkley in the West finals way back whenever it was. Its not like 10 or even 20 lbs. is going to help him push around Karl Malone. There are plenty of great finesse type of defenders who get the job done.
