Why are people so high on next years draft and why does everyone look down on this year's draft? Is it depth, the top talents, or what? I watch college basketball somewhat but just dont see the big deal.

If its so bad, maybe the rockets should trade for a pick in next year's draft.

It's not bad. I think it's better than last year personally. (Yeah I know there was Chris Paul last year)

This is the first draft with no high school players, I'm guessing. All the players that wanted to go pro after high school have to go to college for the one year and can come out next year.

Greg Oden, OJ Mayo, etc. will have spent the required one year out of highschool and are projected to be great players.

So why does everyone think that this years draft is ****, does that mean that guys like brandon roy are actually crappy players hwo belong in the 20s but get to go in the top 10 or does the ****tiness of the draft result because of lack of depth and the top guys are actually really good?

There is no guarantee those players will enter. I know Oden had said numerous times that he planned to attend college before the new rule was even in place. Mayo won't be eligable til 2008.

You guess correctly. This is the transition year and pundits predicted the draft this year would be a dud as soon as the age limit was agreed upon in the CBA.

there is no one like Chris Paul or Lebron this year, however, i think this year's draft is not bad. Juz that player projected to be 10th pick is not much better than the 20th. And #1 pick is not much better than the 10th. Pretty Even...

It's mostly because of depth. There'd probably have been a handful of High Schoolers that could have been 1st round picks this year. Take 3 or 4 first rounders out of the equation and of course depth will suffer.

Personally I think this draft is more or less about as good as last year's draft. Only CP3 was a major stand-out last year, and the law of averages says that one of the guys coming out this year can duplicate that (My guess is that it will be Brandon Roy).

It's not so much that this year's one is that bad, but next year's class will be really good.

I wouldn't say this years draft is ****, mainly because I don't think the top guys are as strong as past drafts. Recent #1 picks haven't gotten you Yao MIng, Lebrong James, Dwight Howard. I thought last year's was quite weak as well, Chris Paul has been the only star out of the Top 10.

This year's top guys are Aldridge/Thomas/Morrison and while they are good players, I don't think they would be nearly as high if Oden or Durant were in the draft (which will probably headline the 2007 draft along with McRoberts).

As for Roy, he is a good player and would probably go somewhere in the teens in any other draft. He is probably the #1 SG, which isn't all that good IMO considering the top guards to come out in previous drafts: DWade, Hinrich, TJ, Gordon, Livingston, Paul, D. Williams.

some of the players u named aren't good. livingston is alright, d williams is a bust. i think roy is pretty good, but rest of the Sgs suck, but i think they are still better than d wesley :D

On the bright side, if T-Mac's back gives out again next year, we'll probably have a shot at Greg Oden. Think positive!

not a lot of love for this years rookie class eh?

c'mon...give them a break. besides, it'll take 5 years to really know whether it was a good or bad year...but right now i'd argue that it's a stronger class than last year.

Ford, Deng, Nocioni, Okafor, Howard, Gordon, Nelson, and Iguodala might be doing pretty good...but i've got a feeling that Bogut, Frye, Granger, Paul, Head, Villanueva, and Deron Williams will combined make a bigger impact.

In five years i'd say that it'll be pretty close...
    Dwight Howard = Chris Paul
    Andre Iguodala = Charlie Villanueva
    Emeka Okafor = Channing Frye
    Ben Gordon > Andrew Bogut
    T.J. Ford = Deron Williams
    Luol Deng < Danny Granger
    Jameer Nelson = Luther Head

jameer nelson = luther head??????? not in my opinion

head would not get the minutes he is getting here on any squad on the other hand nelson would get significant 6th man minutes or even starting

Livingston was/is still a better prospect than Roy.

To say Deron Williams is a bust is foolish. He isn't Chris Paul but he will be a good player in the league, I have a problem with calling rookies a bust in their first year.

I believe OJ Mayo is a junior in High School right now so he won't be in the draft next year either.
