If the Rocks make the playoffs, they lose their pick to Vancouver. That could mean we might just have the Collier pick from Milwauikee. With CD looking to sign Webber and/or Mo T., I'd say it's unlikely that the Rockets will draft a PF, although you guys can make a case for it, if you want. Now, I know we probably can't pick up a center that far down the 1st round, but based on need, for what position do you think the Rocks should draft to fill first? Center or SF? I'd say center. We could probably make do with what we have now, if Hakeem is still here and productive, or Cato starts fulfilling that potential we keep talking about, but if you have the opportunity to pick up a decent big man who can at least fill the defensive and rebounding needs of this team and run the floor, I say take it. Especially if we keep Shandon, I can see a three-guard offense continuing to be used on a regular basis and with fine results. I'd also like to see if Langhi can step up and be 'the man' like we want him to. I think I have more hope for Langhi being our SF of the future than Cato our Center of the future. ------------------
Langhi is goood, but i dont think he will be the starting SF of the future like many think. In the end, i think collier will be the better NBA player. I would take the best player available(unless they are a guard) ------------------ President of the Charles Barkley fan club...Oh he retired? When?
I would say, since Cato is still very much a question mark, that we should attempt to draft a center. Collier cannot be our low post scoring threat for years to come, and Cato never will. Olajuwon convinced me of his point after he started playing better lately. You absolutely have to have some kind of low post scoring threat to win in this league. Guard penetration and scoring just can't cut it if you want to win a championship, because the bigger, low post oriented teams will always roll over you. ------------------ "Happiness is a journey, not a destination. Work like you don't need money, love like you've never been hurt, and dance like no one's watching."
Depends on the player definately. Centers- Haywood, Woods, Curry, Chandler, Diop. Small Forwards- Griffin, Wallace, Yarbrough, Battier, Morris. How great would it be to grab both. Say, Haywood and Yarbrough... ------------------ The next time I have meat and mashed potatoes, I think I'll put a very large blob of potatoes on my plate with just a little piece of meat. And if someone asks me why i didn't get more meat, ill just say, "Oh, you mean this?" and pull out a big piece of meat from inside the blob of potatoes, where ive hidden it. Good magic trick, huh?
The more I watch Shane Battier, the more I want the Rockets to draft him. He plays great defense and has a silky smooth shot from down town. I'd like the Rockets to draft him, he'll probably be available with the pick from Milwaukee. If we are in the lottery, I say we draft a center like Haywood or Woods. Remember the Rockets don't need their big man to put up big scoring numbers, just rebound, play good defense, and block shots. I think these 2 guys would be perfect in the Rockets system. Assuming we don't make the playoffs I would love to see this Rockets team next year. PG-Stevie/Moochie SG-Cat/Shandon or free agent SF-Battier/Shandon or FA/Langhi PF-C-Webb/KT C-Dream/Haywood or Woods/Collier I'm hoping in the offseason we can trade Cato and/or Walt and pick up a decent backup 2/3 to replace Shandon(if he leaves). We need to keep Hakeem for the rest of his career. ------------------
I like Battier and Woods. However, I don't think we have a serious shot at either with our picks. I'd be surprised if Battier fell out of the lottery. I don't see him going later than 15. The Milwaukee pick, at this rate, looks like it will be in the 20s. If we're lucky, we might be able to snag Terence Morris with that pick, but I don't know. I would love to get Woods, but I don't think we'll be able to get him, even if we're in the lottery. I really wish Dream would finish his career in Houston, but I doubt he'll stay. The Rockets will be gunning for Webber and trying to keep Mo T. I think they'd gladly give him the exception, but they'd have to renounce him first. Dream will probably sign with a team who will pay him what he feels he is worth, or with which he feels he has a really strong chance of getting another ring. It would be really nice if we could get a good center in the draft. I'm scared, now, of relying exclusively on Cato and Collier. ------------------
