I just got done watching the Maryland-Louisville game on ESPN. Coming into the season, the knock on Terence Morris was that he was too complacent on offense and did not assert himself. Terence Morris looked absolutely spectacular tonight. He was good at both ends of the floor. Morris scored in multiple ways by posting up, taking the ball to the basket off the dribble, receiving the ball off a pass for set 3 pt shots and a very interesting play where he runs off a baseline screen to catch and shoot from the corner. He was very good on the defensive end as he was moving all the court and playing excellent team defense. His long arms were getting in the passing lanes and causing many problems for Louisville. Morris also picked up a couple of weakside blocked shots. In terms of running the floor, Morris looked like a gazelle but that is nothing new. Also, he was very active around the glass grabbing rebounds. It appeared tonight that Morris is making every effort to address his critics. If he can continue playing like he did tonight, he will really make scouts drool. ------------------ Check out the Best Source for Draft Info Draftsource.net
I like Morris, BUT, if we plan to keep Walt Williams I think it would be pointless to draft him. I do realize that Morris is a completely different player, but that is in college. At the pro-level, his game would have to become mroe similar to Williams. Further, I'd prefer to draft someone iwth more of an NBA body as a big man, cause that is what we really need. Finally, I am adamantly against having him and Francis on the same team. Chemistry is good and all, but once the two-some of Mobley and Francis that is getting somewhat annoying (think Anderson) adds Morris, the chemistry of the rest of the team would be hurt too much in my opinion. I put Terrence Morris and Shane Battier as two college players that I definitely wouldnt want to draft (Im not syaing they wont be good pro's though). ------------------ Remember.... I agree that the Rockets biggest need is an interior banger. However, they need to keep an eye on players in other areas as well in order to be flexible. They have multiple good picks due to their shrewd dealings last draft with the Bucks. ------------------ Check out the Best Source for Draft Info Draftsource.net
are you kidding me jigga? morris and battier top my list of people i would like to (realistically) see the rocket's draft. mmanal: is morris a good defender? ------------------ The next time I have meat and mashed potatoes, I think I'll put a very large blob of potatoes on my plate with just a little piece of meat. And if someone asks me why i didn't get more meat, ill just say, "Oh, you mean this?" and pull out a big piece of meat from inside the blob of potatoes, where ive hidden it. Good magic trick, huh?
Nomar, that has to be the single most interesting, and confusing signature I have ever read! [This message has been edited by RunninRaven (edited December 07, 2000).]
It sounds like jack handy to me- terrence morris is really stinking it up lately eh. ------------------ "There are some frauds so well conducted that it would be stupidity not to be deceived by them." Charles Caleb Colton (1780-1832)
Nomar, yes Morris is a good defender. He has long arms, roams, moves well laterally and plays good team defense. He will be very effective in trapping type of defenses and cause lots of problems for opponents with his long arms. He has slowed down statistically since the first few games but that doesnt make him a bad player. If he continues to play like that, all that will happen is Morris will drop into the category of being a steal. Morris doesnt have the mentality of jacking up shots like his teammates namely Juan Dixon, instead wanting to fit into the offense and that causes many casual observers to think he is not intense. This kind of thing caused his draft stock to drop last yr and could cause that to happen again if he keeps going at this rate. However, smart NBA teams like the Rockets wont get turned away by this and will find themselves a diamond. Wouldnt it be nice to end up with Jason Collier and Terence Morris for Joel Pryzbilla? ------------------ Check out the Best Source for Draft Info Draftsource.net
