man if i was a UW fan i would be furious right now. this is a screwjob to end all screwjobs. roy has had 4 fouls for an eternity and 3 other guys have fouled out, and then they add the insult of that obvious goaltending on top of it all with a lot of other things. of course if that bleach-blonde jensen doesn't foul the guy driving when UW was up 4, none of this happens. one of the dumbest fouls ever. still doesn't discount how hard they've been jobbed. and OMG, UW gets the steal, applebee doesn't shoot it, and then some moron throws the ball all the way across the court and gets it stolen right back.
UConn shouldnt of won this game, Those Washington guys fought their asses off, The only reason they losing is because of the r****ded ref's and that bs block that should have been goaltending... 5 UW players fouled out..., Oh Well George Mason should beat UConn i hope...
They shouldn't have even had to deal with that. These refs just suck so hard. Every questionable call went to Uconn. Goaltends and hammerings went uncalled against them. The refs gave them this game giftwrapped.
Absolutely, but that was in overtime. Certainly, Washington was the victim of one of the worst called games I've ever seen in my life. But, it's hard to be too upset about it when they didn't take care of their own business. All they had to do was make one of the simplest calls in all of sports - foul when up 3 in the closing seconds, and none of it even matters. By the way, I'm guessing that no goaltending call really stings for Boston College. If that's not a goaltend, Boston College's block should have stood and they'd be in the Elite Eight.
Marcus Williams, I don't know if he will be avaiable for our second round pick. If he is, we should take him.
what wasn't in OT was roy getting his 4th foul with 14 minutes to go and affecting the entire rest of the game. first, i'm not even sure where foul #3 was. if it was there, it was ticky tack at best. and then to compound that by calling the ridiculous double tech was horrible. what was the need? they were jawing at each other, whoop-de-friggin'-do. did we need to alter the entire tournament because of it. couldn't they have just stepped in, said shut up, and left it at that. of course not, b/c these refs are morons. and not coincidentally, uconn immediately went on a run. that's how the refs affected things. plus they called about a million more fouls on washington in regulation as it was. i would agree with fouling in that situation, but considering the huge percentage of teams that do not foul in that situation (including rick barnes and jeff van gundy to speak about our own teams), it's hard to say it's the simplest call in all of sports and to put romar below anyone else when it comes to that. even majerus i think said he wouldn't foul. the fact is uw had a huge hill to climb b/c of the refs that uconn didn't have to climb, and it didn't only affect OT.
While the goaltending call was atrocious, I really think was an terribly called game without discrimination. Granted their was a free throw disparity, but you have to expect that when guys play opponents who are quicker, bigger and more athletic, even if they're lackadaisical. The pushing and grabbing was called both ways, however ticky tack. Bottom line, Washington had their chances to win this on a number of occasions and simply choked. Jamaal Williams impressed me, and was by far the best player for UW mainly because he kept his cool, played great d without fouling in a horrible ref performance, and was clutch late. Roy seemed to struggle when he got his 4th and uconn switched Gay onto him (when Gay actually woke up).
Kind Of Off Topic, but i was looking at Memphis' roster and i happend to find someone named Chance McGrady. He's From Auburndale, Florida. Any chance hes related to Tmac?
yes, that's his brother, he's a walk-on. anyway, i don't think i've watched so much bad basketball at the end of games as i have these past couple of days. the funny thing is it actually made these games interesting to watch (and i wouldn't have been on cloud nine around midnight on thursday). horrible decision making + bad free throw shooting = great ending?? take for example the mcgrady miracle, the only mistake was devin's slip, but everything else was the product of pure greatness because the spurs hit all their free throws. i'm glad i decided to watch every game instead of just those ucla is involved in like i do in the regular season because i have a new found appreciation for nba refs. they get a bum rap, but they aren't nearly as bad as college officials. and they say nba refs don't calling traveling, where do you think luther head was getting away with his horrible handling for the past four years?
Tripping over your own feet=foul on your defender. I know refereeing in any sport is hard, but it seems like it's just at a horrible level in all the major sports right now. Well sans hockey since I don't watch it that often.
Every time I watch him, I'm just reminded of the fact that he is what stro shouldve been for the rockets. It just drives me nuts that we got the wrong LSU player.
This guy is amazing though, hell he can probably touch the top of the backboard. I actually think JVG would like him on the rockets. He is a great defender. Can block shots, change other players shots. All of his points have been put back dunks or alley oops though, could work on his outside shot. When you think about it, Stro is kinda like him except taller, but they both dunk like crazy
Big Fatty is so strong it's almost dangerous for opposing players. I played against a short stocky tank-like guy a few weeks ago and I switched off of him every chance I got. If he got two hands on the ball and I got one, I snatched my arm back in self-preservation.
Stro made a name for himself in the tournament too. But Thomas has just seems more complete and it seems like he has the heart and passion necessary to take advantage of his unbelieveable athleticism. Also, he knows his strengths and doesn't try to do too much or too little which Swift seems to make a habit of doing. Both Swift and Thomas had similar potential upside but Thomas just seems like he has the right mental makeup to take advantage of that and become a truly great NBA player.
we are getting ****ed by the refs in this game. davis and thomas do anything they want and we get called for traveling while getting body checked to the ground and bumped all over. and davis has about 19 3 seconds violations that haven't been called. doesn't help thomas is having a career offensive day and aldridge can't hit the broadside of a barn.
