Examples of some of the things that intrigue me about the draft:

    1. Follow this player pathway( if you can):

A Second Round Draft Pick came to Dallas from Chicago via last year's Chris Anstey trade. Went from Dallas (#13) to Orlando as part of the Courtney Alexander trade in this year's draft. Went from Orlando (#10) to the LA Clippers as part of the Keyon Dooling trade. Went from the LA Clippers back to Dallas as part of the Sean Rooks trade. Then went from Dallas (#31) to Houston (#38) as part of a 2nd round pick trade and Houston drafting it finally at #31,who selected Dan Langhi.

2.The LA Clippers roster, before and after the draft:

    D.Anderson
    A.Advent
    P.Chilicutt
    T.Hudson
    K.Closs
    C.Jones
    J.McInnis
    E.Murdock
    M.Taylor
    E.Bohannon
    T.Nesby
    M.Olowokandi
    E Piatkowski
    B.Skinner
    L.Odom

To one that now looks like this:

    E.Bohannon….PF
    T.Nesby…….SF
    M.Olowokandi….C
    E Piatkowski….G
    B.Skinner…..C
    L.Odom …..G/SF/PF
    S.Rooks ……C
    D.Strong ……PF
    C.Maggette …..SF
    D.Miles ….. SF/PF
    Q.Richardson…. SG
    K.Dooling…..PG

And still able to deal with these agents (with Bird rights, etc…):
    D.Anderson ….G
    M.Taylor….F
    K.Closs …. C

    And Second Rounder:
    M.Jaric …. G

For a possible 12 man roster of:

    1. Anderson/Dooling
    2. Richardson/Piatkowski/Maggette
    3. Odom/Miles/Maggette
    4. Taylor/Odom/Nesby/Miles
    5. Kandi/Closs/Rooks/+ Four others to choose from

How did the Clippers finally get a revelation to get things pointed in the right direction after many years of bad decisions?

Seems like Golden State inherits the Clippers title of the most poorly run organization.

    oeilpere,

Do you think the Rockets could somehow trade for one of their small forwards?

For say Drew & Walt + whatever it takes to fit it under the cap?

Taylor/Odom/Nesby/Miles will never work. Remember, they play the games with one ball. The Rockets need a scoring/defensive small forward, so, here is a good place to start as any.

I know the Clippers had a good draft, but think for a minute......THIS IS THE CLIPPERS!! Their never going to have a winning, no matter how well they do in the draft unless they get a new and BETTER coach and GM. As for trading for a FA, it doesn't matter what the Clippers do with them. The Rockets don't need to trade for one of them because they probably won't be a Clipper in 2 or 3 years, so just sign one of them in 2 or 3 years. For once, I agree with MOUND OF REBOUND.

While greatly improved, the Clippers are still left with a lot of question marks. The PF spot is the obvious hole. In addition, they certainly seemed to draft a great deal of verstile swingmen when they already have one of thebest in Lamar Odom. There is no way they can possibly find enough time and/or shots for Odom, Miles, Richardson, and Magguette. Plus, form all I heard, Dooling is a shoot-first and not a pass-first PG. PLus, Olowakandi has yet to pay dividends.

How about this deal-just a suggestion, have lloked at no cap numbers or anything:

    Clippers get: Cato, KT, Drew

    Rockets get: Kandi, Maguette

Got to remember Corey is still young and showed some promise in Orlando when he got PT. He would be a great pickup. I would hate to lose Cato and KT but would do it if this deal was on the table.

I think it is very impressive how Orlando managed to rape the Clippers out of their number 1 pick next year. LEts face it, while the CLippers will be improved, they will still be a top 10, if not top 6 or 7 pick. That will go to a MAgic team that has a multitude of picks and will most likely have any two of Hill, Duncan, or McGrady on their team for a year already. It is pretty impressive, especially when you realize they picked up Mike Miller this year.

How about Cato straight up for Darius Miles?

Miles can be that second superstar along with Francis.

We need big guys, if not Rudy could had picked Alexander in the draft and taken a gamble.
Miles will take 3-4 years to come around and Francis does not have time to wait for that youngster. We need size and defense. Not Rails with hopefully offense.

New Jack, I really hope you're kidding. Miles' upside is huge, and Cato, as evidenced by last season, is slipping.

Anyone else the Clippers want for Miles. I'd be willing to give up anyone on this team beside Francis.

I like your idea JayZ750. I hate to give up on Cato if he truely has recommitted himself to playing in every game, instead of once in a while, but Kandi could fill the role nicely with Dream's tutoring. Collier, if he's everything that I'm hearing, could replace KT and might be an upgrade just because of his size. Can you say twin towers? I say we do it! Call the front office and tell them that we have made up our minds. [IMG]

However, if we could get Miles & Kandi, that might intrigue me more. Who knows?

Although I was merely pointing out the irony of it all, I did not entirely give up on the unescapable feeling that despite a good start (with the draft) the Clippers just may find someway to lose more games this year than last year. LOL

Realistically though, I think that the owners have finally decided that to spend $30 Million dollars and have a loser is not as much fun as spending $38 Million and getting some respect.

Both in the win column and in the seats, if not in the league.

I bet that Orlando is really feeling regret about giving the Clips and early Christmas present, considering the recent turn of events on the Free Agent market.
