What's the deal with our draft next year? Who's picks do we get besides Our's and Milwakee's? ------------------ "There are two rules for success... 1) Never tell everything you know."
We could end up with Detroit's #1(they have 2 years left to give it to us) and any pick that the Magic want to give us in the first round(they have 2 or 3 years left to give us a pick). Could be their own or one that they acquire(d). We owe Vancouver our #1 in the next 3 years(since it has to be our pick I doubt we will give it up next year). So we could end up with 4 picks. Let's say Detroit sucks and is in the lottery, Milwaukee is the 8 seed next season, we finish in about the same place we did this season, and Orlando goes to the Finals and maybe wins it. We get our pick(#9), a pick from Orlando(#28 or 29), and Milwaukee's(#14) but we don't get Detroit's because they sucked. So we have #9, #14, and #28. Best case scenario next year is that Detroit does suck and they give us the pick anyway because they're afraid they will suck even worse in the years following and Milwaukee ends up with #11. So we get Detroit's pick at about(#6), ours(#9), Milwaukee's(#11) and Orlando's at probably(#29). So we then have #6, #9, #11, and #29. If this happens then we are in about the same situation that Chicago and Orlando were in this year. Since we get rid of Hakeem's contract we probably do what Orlando did and trade away all our cash with our picks and go after top free agents. So maybe we would give up our pick to Vancouver. If there are no free-agents then we probably package our picks to get into the top 3 if not the #1 pick. Those are some scenarios that could happen next year or the next. ------------------
No, Detroit has 4 years to give it to us, and we owe Vancouver a pick by 02 (the year after the nearest upcoming draft). Orlando still has to sign the free agents (nothing is in stone), and likely will have a year or 2 to gel. ------------------ The more lefties on your team, the better. Then I dont think Detroit is going to give up their pick in next years draft. I think ours will be around 9, Milwaukee around 16, and Orlando around 25. ------------------ In Rudy I trust.
The Rocks pick will be much lower than 9, I'm saying 17. ------------------ please venture to atheistalliance and rocketsonline I AM SPARTACUS
Nike, Detroit had four years when they made the deal. So they have had the last two drafts to give us the pick and have not done so. Therefore, they have 2 years left to give it to us. And I would say that the chances of getting Detroit's pick are 50/50 right now. Lose Grant Hill and the chances are like 10/90. ------------------
Which trade did we get Orlando's pick from? Oh ya, and just a little advice for our Rockets: Screw This Season! And don't start winning 20 games in a row AFTER you get knocked out of the playoffs. ------------------ "There are two rules for success... 1) Never tell everything you know."

I really think that someone needs to research this area of Rocket lore and put it on some little web-page, much like Davo has done with Rockets salaries. I'm not in a position to create the web-page for it, and I'd suggest Davo's salary page or clutchcity would be a good place for it. I'd be willing to do the research if someone else is willing to put the information up on a website. ------------------ http://www.gaffordstudios.cjb.net/
Thanks Nike, I guess I've been mislead for about 2 years now thinking that the Detroit pick might actually be a good pick and coming to us soon. Thanks for the info. ------------------
