I'm getting tired of the selection at the big stores, Petsmart and Petco. They've gotten a few new ones in lately but nothing all that special. I've been to Ultimate Fish on 2920 but they mostly have Cichlids & saltwater fish or something that will kill every thing in my tank. I'm not looking for any big or overly aggressive fish just some small unique pretty fish that I can put in my community tank.

Right now I have a couple of Killifish (I think this is the one I have. A little greener though.), couple of Long fin Rosy Barbs, a Betta and two Panda Cory (my favorites)

I would love to find one of these two Killis

Anyone know of a good place in or around Spring? Also what do you have in your tank?

Can't help you with good places to buy - I know more about reptile places in Houston then I know about fish places. I have a 55 gallon octagonal tank with 2 Chinese Broadtail Moors. They're simple to take care of and I don't have much time to care for more. In college ,when I was much more into it, I had 2 palmsize piranha in one tank and a small barracuda and spiny eel in another. Feeding time was always popular.

hey oomp....you interested in a 40 long rep tank with screen cover?
I got it from a fmaily friend and initially thought it was a actual fish tank adapted for reps...but soon found out it was a real rep tank...so I cant use it for fish.

    Blatz...

If you can decide on waht kind you want, you have two options:

    1) most good LFs will order you a fish as long as they can get it from their suppliers.
    2) there are sites online that you can order unusual fish from...I understand the packing quality and survival rates have much improved from what they used to be.

    my tanks:

Tank 1 - 40G Oscar tank containing one 13" Tiger Oscar, a 6" ALbino Tiger Oscar, and a 6" Striped Rapheal Cat

Tank 2 - 42G hex rainbow tank with 3 species of rainbows(two of which are fairly rare...they dont even have common names) the other type is New Zealand Red Rainbow. It also has four 4-6" Clown Loaches and a small green cory cat.

I used to have a larger salt tank, but dont really have the time to deal with it so it isnt setup right now.

I have a simple ten gallon tank with neon tetras, danios, and cory cats. I got rid of my guppies because them things just kept spitting out babies.

Check with Lil Pun first R2K, but I might be interested. I had an iguana for 12 years that died a few years back. His home is the tank my fish are in now. When he was in it, it was called "The Summit". I need a "Toyota Center" now. :D

PetSmart and Petco are usually terrible places to buy fish because a lot of them carry diseased fish. Go to a smaller mom & pop shop if you can find one. When I raised cichlids in my tank, I used to drive down to New Braunfels to get my fish... but they specialize in cichlids. Hey if you want potentially aggressive fish that are cool to watch as they build nests and defend their young while looking cool, cichlids are great... :D

Try Village Tropical Fish on Shepherd near Richmond. Dan with the beard very informative. Check out the tank with all the plants - charged with CO2 and has these beautiful little neons. Awesome.

That's actually a good store and I've heard good things about it even living up here in Dallas. I went there once and the tanks were clean and the fish seemed healthy. I dunno if they have killifish, but I'd call 'em up...

    Try going to the Amazon.

They have some hardcore fish in there.

How much does it cost? I'd like to maybe get some fish someday.

Thanks for the suggestions although I wish they were a little closer.

If DoD is hearing good things about the Village Tropical Fish store up in Dallas then I'm diffidently going to see what they have to offer. The pictures on their site look nice.

I think I'll make a day out of it and check all of them out.
