Seems that Darius Miles was a little unhappy about the phychological testing that he had to do for Chicago. Here's a quote about Jerry Krause's first question to Miles: "The first question he asked me was, `If you've got four dollars and somebody else gives you five, how much money will you have?' And I asked, `Is everybody being asked the same question? Or did you ask me this because I was in high school?' That's the stuff they do." Another player who remembered the "$5 Question" was UCLA center Jerome Moiso, who was born in France and speaks fluent French and English and some Spanish. "When they asked me that question, I asked them in what currency did they want the answer and at what exchange rate," Moiso said with a grin. http://www.suntimes.com/output/banks/banx28.html Funny stuff. Krause is such a class act. ------------------
OK, Moiso just garnered a lot more of my respect! Too bad it wasn't for something he did on the court ... ------------------
The Moiso thing IS hilarious, but Krause should not be underestimated. Ture Jordan and Pippend hated him but who cares? Those guys are pricks. He put together teams that won 6 championships. You think that was all Jordan? You think the bulls could have donew it without Paxton's 3 or Rodman's defense? Krause is hated for the wrong reasons. ------------------ G
Another funny thing about Krause I read somewhere the other day. He believes that males take after their mothers. He looks at mothers and grandmothers (if possible)to see bone structure and size of hands. This is another part of his evalution process in the drafting of a player. This guy sounds like a real wacko. ------------------

This guy sounds like a real wacko. [/QUOTE] He's not wacko. Jerry started out as a baseball scout...and he had to project how a hard hitting 18 year old center fielder would look 6 years in the future...when he was 23, 24 ,25 years old--whether he would fill out or stay skinny, whether he had the genetics to put on muscle or not, and so on. Now that he's picking players out of high school---it's the same thing. Can Darius add weight and fill out a bit or not? Pippen was about Darius' size back in the day---but the Bulls saw the ability for him to add mass and look at him now... Horace Grant too. ------------------
There were a lot of fat mothers at the NBA draft. I imagine Krause found what he was looking for. ------------------ There are 3 kinds of people: those who can count and those who can't.
"He put together teams that won 6 championships. You think that was all Jordan?" Yes. Go back and look at all the top 10 picks they went through to get their core. They had something like 10 top 10 draft choices in the 80s. ------------------ Tell me I sold out, go ahead
Sorry. It was the maturation of Pippen as a sidekick, Grant as a power forward, and the acquisition of Bill Cartwright that lead to the Bulls first championship. All Krause acquisitions. What had Jordan won in the seven years prior to them growing up and coming togather as a team? The second three-peat came with the acquisitions of D-Rod and Luc Longley. It wasn't their offensive contributions (much like it wasn't Grant or Cartwrights offensive contributions) it was the defense they were able to play---that closed otherwise HUGE gaps that Jordan and Pippen couldn't have filled. Finally--Krause excels at finding role players to complement the stars--Ron Harper, Craig Hodges, John Paxson, Bison Dele, Jud Buechler, Bill Wennington...and on and on. If Fizer and Crawford and Artest and Brand can transfer their abilities from the college level to the pro level (just as Brand has already done) then Krause has done it again...especially if he gets even one tier one free agent. All he has to do is find those role players and the Bulls are back in the hunt--- ------------------ [This message has been edited by gettinbranded (edited July 02, 2000).]
Heh, he used Kukoc and defense in the same sentence! ------------------ The more lefties on your team, the better. Collier is Seven Foot and Left Handed. How can you go wrong? Trade or bench Kenny Thomas.
I had to laugh out loud at that one. It's supposed to be Luc Longley, not Kuc Longley. I think I be using the edit button now... ;D ------------------
