Great to know that he could actually done much better had he not been slowed by the toe surgery. Can't wait to see an even better Yao Ming!

pryuen thanks. I don't think there's anything in the translation that doesn't convey proper meaning.

But it is humorous on many levels. First of all Falsone was rumored to have punched out a (I'm assuming some of this) a stocky and obnoxious ball boy. It was reported as an "altercation", but I have to give props to this interviewer for more accurately describing whatever happened than the Chronicle in a way that most of us probably agree with.

A couple of things about Falsone's comments:

    1) Falsone may be very talented but bringing up his limited work with Dream is simply ridiculous in any context regarding Yao. As far as I've read Hakeem has only given any credit to three coaches over his career and... well no one else that wasn't a player.

    2) Improving Yao's balance is a legit function of exercise/strength but repeated comments about working with Yao's footwork smacks of incredible self-promotion. I won't hold my breath for CD or Tex Winter to comment about any of that. I would however love to hear Dream's take on this article.

    3) JVG's system requires Yao to "be running around a lot"? Too funny. To a large extent the 7'ers in the league that can drain 20' js do require centers to come out on the perimeter. But everyone knows in our defense Yao has to switch off on the p'n'r to the perimeter to guard perimeter players. I'm glad Falsone agrees with JVG that's doable with Yao without negative effect.

    4) Yao's butt. Be honest, wouldn't you much rather hear Barkley talking about this?

All in all it was a great read. Apparently those 2 trips to China to only hand deliver envelopes didn't affect his self-esteem. Good for him. :D

    1. Falsone was Hakeem Olajuwon's personal trainer immediately prior to...AND DURING Both of the Rockets Championship seasons. Falsone was hired by the Rockets to oversee the training of the team after the success (and with strong support) of Hakeem Olajuwon. I would not call this limited involvement.

    2. Footwork is obviously an area that Yao needs to work on...even though this article has obviously been translated...I don't get the "self promotion" feeling that you are getting. He mentioned early in the article that Van Gundy, Tibadeaux and Ewing have been instrumental in Yao's progress...how "self promoting" is that? Olajuwon is aware that Falsone works with Yao exclusively and is pleased by the news.

    3. No comment on your #3.

    4. Yao's butt...probably a translation. Good one.

Now we know for sure that Yao has very strong buttocks... a "hardass", so to speak?

Not on dumbbell. 250 pounds on benching most probably. There is another "sister" article that appeared simultaneously with the above article telling us how much Yao Ming weight-lifted. I'm running out of time now. I will provide the translation tonight. Stay tune. :D

Thanks a lot for all of your translations. I like everyone else here really appreciate your work. I do some translation work from time to time, so I know how hard and how much time it can take. Really appreciate it and look forward to more.

I think we should give Falsone the benefit of doubt instead of the posters here.

BTW, who is T-Mac's personal trainer? Maybe if T-Mac has a good trainer, he will be less prone to injury?

Falsone should work with Stro (if the Rockets keep him). About 15 more lbs of muscle (plus a heart and a brain) could make a big difference.

That's going to be tough..... Remember Anthony Falsone is only a strength and conditioning coach. This requires a medical practioner for a heart and brain transplant.
