So we were driving back to College Station today from Austin after driving back from New Mexico to Austin the night before. Well, just after we got onto 21 from 290, this lady in a convertable blue mustang passed me, and cut right in front of me doing 80-90MPH. She then slammed on her brakes to pull off onto some road. I began to cuss out loud wondering who/what the **** ?! I was pissed she cut infront of me to slam on her brakes to turn off the highway to some gravel road that I didn't see till a few secs later. I quickly swerved to the left lane, since she did this about 8inchs infront of my bumper. Well, her car tossed up a **** load of gravel/rocks onto my truck crashing into my windshield and hood etc. This got me pissed off at her. But suddenly, I realized the severity of her stupid turn. She his this gravel road at a bad angle, it was like a 70 degree angle fron NtoE. She immediatly began to fishtale and slide on the grasss. She spun 2 times and then hit a tree with her front right bumper. THis caused her car to spin around 3 more times. It was insane. I quickly slowed down, put on my emergency blinkers and pulled a U-Turn on 21 as did the 3 cars behind me who also witnessed it. As I crossed back over 21 to get to the scene of the accident I saw her walking around infront of her car. It looked like she was trying to run from the scene or something. I couldn't tell. She was crazy. We stopped and all got out of my truck, and she was all concerned about getting the beer cans out of her car. She was obviously drunk, and was concerned on getting busted. Well, I'm an EMT-B and my sister who was in the truck too is a Paramedic. We went over there to see if she was ok. The next thing I knew she jumped into MY Truck and was asking to be driven to a bar down the street that her BF's dad owned. well, I did just because I didn't really have a choice. We got her there and she bought us all a beer. I was in awe that she was okay and not injured. Her car was TOTALED. and she didn't have a scratch on her. It was insane. It definetly got my nerves jumpy seeing that and being very careful on the rest of my drive to College Station. The lady apparently has had 2 other DWI's (heard her say this) and she didn't want to get caught again. She was trying to get her car towed/dragged away from the scene to some backyard or something to hide it. I'm not sure, but I think if you get caught DWI for the 3rd time it's 15years or something. At this time, I also noticed that the lady had pissed and crapped her pants from the accident. My poor seat..... yeah....guess I'll go more in depth in a later post in this thread if anyone responds. Oh yeah, also we were in New Mexico snowboarding at Angle Fire. It was BAD ASS!!!!!! It was a strange drive back. Foggy all the way from the mountains in New Mexico till Austin. And very dark, and rainy. One hell of a front of storms. Anyone else scene/been involved in an accident lately?
Drunk driving the first offense should be atleast a min of one year jail time, thats the only way people will learn not to drive intoxicated. Freaking irresponsible people piss me off, you should have turned her butt in and let her do her 15 years, when she got out she would think twice about driving drunk. Oh yeah I should have read it, i just read the first line.
Wow thats a crazy story. I would have probably b**** slapped her first, and then left her on the side of the road. Did she ever say why she pulled over so abruptly?
She said she just had a fight with her boyfriend, and she had been drinking. It was stupid on her part to do that. She appologized for cutting me off and nearly causing me to be in her little accident rampage too. boomer83, no prob.....all though you didn't read it.
That girl is going to be back on the street and is going to get herself and others seriously hurt if not worse one of these days. Sick. Good thing you and the others behind your car immediately checked up on the scene.
You should have called the cops and let that b**** go to jail. She could have, and could still, kill a person with her irresponsibility. When the car's replaced and her foggy pea-brain cleared, she'll likely do it again.
yeah, I don't think she deserves to have her drivers license. I hope she does get into some kind of trouble. I mean, she was convicted 2 times already with DWI. What freaked me out when we left, is that on that tiny road was the biker bar. With lots of bikers there. If one of them was on that part of the road she could have easily killed one of them. She was a ver LUCKY lady for not being injured/killed, but still a VERY stupid one too. We did call the cops when it first happened, but our cell phone died. BUt we did tell them where it happened.
Ok, then. You did what you could. That's also the reason why my boyfriend will never let me get a motorcycle- other drivers.
She said she had friend there and her BF. Plus, I didn't really have a choice since my friend/sister were telling me to go.
umm, no. We went to take her to her friends that she had in the area. She was all shaky etc. Also, we didn't get hammered. I had 1 beer which she bought for me for helping her. And then we were off.
I thought it was illegal for the driver to leave the site of an accident, whether another car was involved or not.
Didn't stop them from breaking any of the other laws. How was the snow over there Uprising? Back in the middle of February I was in Red River. If we had went a week later it would have been some good snow to ski/board on.
There are two types of chicks that drive Mustangs...hot 16 year old bleach blondes who's daddy is paying for the car and over the hill 50 year old hags with one too many plastic surgeries. I doubt many 16 year olds have two DWI convictions...
I know you did what you could at the time and sometimes we don't have a lot of time to make these decisions, so I'm not going to complain too much... but, in retrospect, it's probably not good to be quite so nice to people like her. It was good that you checked to see if she was OK, but the part about helping her hide the evidence and letting her buy you beers... That's just like encouraging it or letting her think it's OK with everyone. This woman is a danger to everyone and it's lucky no innocent people were hurt or killed, but what about next time? (and she has so little shame, or was just so drunk, that she just wants to go hang out at a bar with people afterwards and doesn't even care if she messed up your car seat/ needs to go take a shower and change before she appears in public) I would have called the cops. Her only concern is for herself.
I completely agree with Isabel. I would NOT have given her a ride anywhere. I would have made sure that she was apprehended by the police. If she already has 2 DWI's and is still driving drunk, she deserves to be in jail.
