In year 4, Ewing averaged 22.7 pts and 9.3 rebs.. It wasnt until Ewings 5th year that he got into double digit rebounding. I think Yao is coming around really nicely and we need to give our big man some credit... http://www.nba.com/history/players/ewing_stats.html
also looked at Robert Parishes stats... his BEST year only had 19.9 pts, and 10.8 rebs,, http://www.nba.com/history/players/parish_stats.html
WE DO GIVE YAO A LOT OF CREDIT. Haven't you've seen like 20359823094823 post praising yao around the boards lately. You sir are a true YOF.
I can't tell from his words that he is NOT a fan of the Rocket players other than Yao. There is a word "YOF" because there are some people like you. Can't you just shutup?
Parish played with some of the best to ever play the game and they each gave up shots for the team's success. Hopefully one day the Rockets will have the problem of having too many of the greatest players ever on our team.
Maybe not you BUT there are a whole lot of people who say 10 rebs isnt enough etc. etc. Whereas some of the best centers only had 10 rebs in their BEST years..
It's hilarious how half the newbies from the past year have superiority complexes and tend to think anything pro-Yao qualifies as an YOF-ism. Someone whose favorite NBA player is Yao is not necessarily a YOF. Neither is someone who defends Yao from criticism or someone who thinks Yao doesn't get enough credit for the effort he puts into the game. A YOF is someone who roots for the Rockets only because Yao is on the team. They place Yao's success above the Rockets'...hence the term "Yao only fan." Many times they couldn't care less if the Rockets lost all 82 games as long as Yao averages monster stats. The thread starter was just making a point that Yao's stats at this stage in his career are comparable to Ewing's, a player that many consider one of the top 15-20 centers in NBA history. If you're going to throw that label around, at least figure out what it means first.
I agree. Can we ban the term "X only fan" all together? I don't like how people are using them and its ver misleading.
