Burleson had nagging injuries most of the 2005 season and did a remarkable job replacing an injured Randy Moss during the 2004 season. He accumulated over 1000 yards receiving and had 9 touchdowns. He was pretty consistent as well. He has already visited the Seahawks (he's from Seattle). If he were to sign here, and Minnesota doesn't match any offer, we would have to give up a third round pick.

Well worth a third round pick, IMO.

    I'd have to agree.

He is a perfect #2 WR. Add him and Walter to Johnson and a major upgrade over last year.

Completely agree. At this point, given Chaz's lack of drafting prowess, I'd gladly give up our draft picks for another team's talent. Besides, Burleson was a 3rd round pick himself, anyway.

Yes, we need recievers. All we have right now are Johnson and Mathis and a few others who couldn't even make the team last year.

I second that. Anything is better than Gaffney and Bradford.

Agreed. Some are saying that it wouldn't be worth it and I see where they are coming from since this year's draft is quite deep. But WR has quickly become one of the bigger (if not the biggest) holes we need to fill. An
AJ-Burleson-Mathis/Walter combo would be pretty decent.

That would be a huge upgrade if he decides to come here. Im still wondering what are we gonna do about the cornerback position. Phillip B. sucks and we need to upgrade that spot as well.

Kevin Walters. We signed him to an offer sheet last week, the Bengals have til' tomorrow to match it IIRC. He was their #4 receiver last season.

He would be a great pickup if the Texans had anyone that could look to a 2nd or 3rd target.

Agreed, great # 2 receiver, but how would Carr ever get him the ball?

    :p ;)

He is definitly a good #2 reciever. We saw what he could do with a great reciever at the 1 in Moss. He sucked as the number 1 in Minny this year and he was hurt for about 5 games. Definitly didn't live up to expectations there.

That being said he would thrive in a system with a good number 1 that is double teamed like AJ. So i would be all for this signing provided he's healthy. Of course the 3rd round pick depending on what's available is important.

I'd be in favor of a good 2nd WR if David Carr didn't get tunnel vision every time he dropped back. He's very poor at going to his 2nd / 3rd targets, imo.

    Just a little more info...

Seattle owns the #95 pick in the 3rd round while Houston owns the #65 pick in the third round. If Minnesota is looking to *not* match any offer to Burleson they would be smart to tell him that they would match any offer given to him by Seattle while not doing so to an offer given to him by Houston. This would, in effect, allow the Vikings to gain 30 spots in the third round by essentially playing mind games with Burleson. But would Burleson call their bluff?

I'm sure their decision whether or not to match an offer to Burleson will come down to whether or not an arbitrator upholds their huge offer to Steve Hutchinson. Because after all, they are throwing $49 million at Hutchinson.

It's pretty hard to find your second and third options when you're on your back.
