Here is an article from a Minnesotta paper. Seldom-used Frahm releasedBY RICK ALONZOPioneer PressOAKLAND, Calif. — The Timberwolves waived little-used guard Richie Frahm on Thursday. Frahm, in his only season with the team, averaged 2.6 points in 25 games. He shot 36.9 percent, 31.3 percent from three-point range. The Houston Rockets are believed to be interested in signing Frahm, who also caught the eye of the Denver Nuggets before the trading deadline passed in February. "He's wanting an opportunity to play, and it wasn't going to happen here," Wolves coach Dwane Casey said. "We waived him, and it will give him an opportunity to go somewhere else." Frahm was signed to give the team another shooter in the wake of Fred Hoiberg's heart surgery. But the third-year NBA player couldn't find his shooting touch for much of the season. Opening night marked Frahm's best game with Minnesota. He made 5 of 6 from three-pointers and scored a season-high 18 points to help the Wolves defeat the Portland Trail Blazers 90-86 on Nov. 2. He shot 10 for 42 (23.8 percent) from behind the arc the rest of the season. His most recent appearance came Feb. 11 against New Orleans/Oklahoma City. Frahm was lost in a numbers game at guard behind starters Ricky Davis and Trenton Hassell combined with the emergence of rookie Rashad McCants, who has become the team's best three-point shooter. "He was very professional," Casey said. "He worked hard every day in practice. The older Richie gets, the more he'll have that sniper's mentality." Casey said the Wolves could call up rookie Bracey Wright from the NBA Development League at some point, but there are no
Frahm doesnt play much defense and isnt very athletic. But he is a good shooter and a smart player. It would be worth it for the Rockets to pick him up.
I guess the reason they may want to even got his way is his 3 point shooting credentials- all time leader at Gonzaga ( final Four 3 Point champ). Regarding defense- I read elsewhere that he is athletic and can defend. I have never seen him play for Minnesota recently!
Grasping for Straws!!!! When we need so much more -we need Beef and shooting accuracy- bring on the beef!!!SPREE
Hey anitasri, did you see rikesh316 already started a thread on this? http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=110403
Yes! But that is when he was released- not when there was official interest expressed by rockets per se ( on record). we did nothing about Hoiberg- who now looks to go the Phoenix!
He shot 36.9 percent, 31.3 percent from three-point range. What kind of crap numbers are those... You guys think this guy is gonna help?
Les us keep a cool head and not get stupid! Spee is a free Agent available to help us get into the Playoffs!!
An Excerpt from Star Tribune regarding Frahm Quote Waived Thursday from a roster that no longer afforded him playing time -- and now free to sign with a team that needs him (possibly Houston) -- Frahm was a three-point specialist signed in September to ease the loss of guard Fred Hoiberg to heart surgery. In the season-opening victory over Portland on Nov. 2, he led the Wolves with 18 points, going 5-for-6 from the arc. From there, though, it was downhill in impact and opportunities. Quote Basically they did not have the minutes for him- boy if he can bring that kind of shooting, I would like him here for the San Antonio game!
I feel like I'm in an episode of the Twilight Zone. His FG% has dropped each year in the league to a dismal 37% this season. We have a roster full of Richie Frahms already. Someone said we should "try something new", well adding a poor shooter to the current roster isn't exactly a step in that direction.
