I was reading some articles on Usenet and someone mentioned that in a private workout conducted by the Bulls, Chris Mihm was basically destroyed by Jamal Magloire. The blurb came from nbatalk.com : Mihm is Mummed NBAtalk EXCLUSIVE! Remember when Chris Mihm declared for the draft and the rumors were rampant that Chicago's Jerry Krause was doing more than whispering in the kid's ear?Well, the Bulls brought Mihm and Kentucky center Jamal Magliore in for a private workout ealier this week. A source who was at the workouts told NBAtalk that Mihm was destroyed by Magliore. Let us make this perfectly clear. He got taken to the rack and dunked on. His shots were rejected. When all was said and done, Mihm was bent over, clutching the bottom of his shorts and Jamal Magliore was smirking at him after doing the damage. If nothing else it reinforced the general consensus that Mihm is soft. The Bulls still need a center. But it doesn't look like it's going to be Mihm. Pencil in Minnesota's Joel Pryzbilla for now. I'm starting to worry this guy may fall to #9. ------------------ Just shut up and post [This message has been edited by Dr of Dunk (edited June 10, 2000).]
You can rest assured that Mihm will NEVER fall to #9. Half of the teams drafting in front of us are in need of a center (NJ, Vancouver, Chicago and Cleveland) and 7 footers who can score are hard to find. I'm not a big believer in Mimh's NBA potential, but I'd for sure take him with the #9 (if by some freak chance he did fall that far). Olajuwon is already semi-retired, and Cato is somewhat injury prone. Furthurmore, we need someone who can rebound and shoot from outside on the high post and Mihm fits that. But trust me, IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN!!! Just yesterday afternoon on 610 A.M. Carrol Dawson said he had spoken to Rod Thorn (NJ's new executive) at the draft tryouts this week and that in all honesty NJ didn't yet know if it would go Martin or Mihm with the #1. There is zero chance that Mihm will be available at #9. ------------------
DoD-- Over at bskball.com, there is a little blurb that Mihm intentionally tanked that workout, with Krause's involvement, so that he would fall to the Bulls at #4. Only Krause could generate that kind of buzz. ------------------
COME ON?!?!?!?! Tank a workout so that he would FALL in the draft, thus insuring a lower contract. Yep, sounds like a good deal if I were the player....NOT ! DaDakota Mihm is Koncak reincarnate ! ------------------
A players contract is only one source of income. What if Mihm is convinced that he'll be able to bring in more endorsement money in Chicago? ------------------
Mihm wants to go to Chicago, because he believes they are the team of the future, and have been there before. I believe he'd tank in a second, so that takes place. If he's with a winning team, he makes way more in endorsement money than he'd make in his contract. I mean would you want to play for New Jersey, Vancouver or LAC? The above teams are trying to get Chicago to give up more to move up to get Mihm. If Chicago can make people think they aren't so high on him anymore, they could end up keeping their picks, and still getting him. What has sort of hurt Chicago has been Prysbilla's rise. Originally they thought they could get Prysbilla with their #7 pick, then trade him to Portland for Oneal. Now it looks like Pryzbilla won't slide past #5, so they'll have to choose between Oneal or Mihm. That could be a bigger factor than anything, especially if they think it would determine whether they need to do this to get Tracy McGrady and Tim Thomas, who have talked about playing together someday. Everybody is full of disinformation right now. The Rockets are too! ------------------ the more I know, the more I know I don't know...
