guys head over to http://www.sportsonly.com/boards/nbadraft/forum.pl/page=2555 check out the topic *True* 2000 Lottery Draft im in an argument with rocketsfan. he insists that mobley and SA arent good enough to play the 2. he thinks we MUST draft deshawn Stevenson at #9! geez! read the thread he really puzzles me. does any1 here honestly believe we need another 2 much less one from high school? ------------------ --TEX
If we draft DeShawn enventually he could start at 2 Anderson could go to 3 and Cuttino could spell Franchise and DeShawn. This would give us a hell of a rotation and I wont have to sit here next year and wonder why we didnt draft a guy who is getting Jordan comparisons already. Or we could just pass on him like we did with Lewis when we wasted 2 out of 3 first round draft picks in 98. ------------------
like your name ron_chan. I have a good buddy named ron, and my name is chan. Anyway, if we draft deshawn, there is no way he is gonna start ahead of cuttino. It may be like the ediie jones/kobe situation that the Lakers had a few years back. Remember, kobe was horrible his rookie year. ------------------ "Don't they get cable in Canada ?" Keith olbermann, after watching hakeem block terry catledge's shot 5 times.
I know the kid is athletic but high school competetion is alot different than the NBA. and u would really pick him at #9 over small forwards like dermarr, miles, miller, etc.? and correct me if im wrong but SA has a contract clause that states he must play the 2 doesnt he? ------------------ --TEX
Salsa-yeah, start at the 2. HS Deshawn is not near HS Kobe. HS Kobe was undisputed #1 out of high school. Now, many argue that Gerald Wallace, Darius Miles, Eddie Griffin, and some even say Zach Taylor are better out of HS. Will he be a good player? Probably. But marking him down as a can't miss franchise player is pretty far off. ------------------ Rockets fans wanted at hoopsboards.com Draft Chat, NBA Chat, Team Chat, and more!
I WANT TO WIN NOW !!! Forget taking a high school player. For every Kevin Garnett there is a Jermaine O'neal. Who knows how a young man of 18 is going to handle the NBA and all that money? When their teamates go out for a brew, they have to stay home and play Starlancer (Shameless plug). Take the more mature player, I want to win NOW. DaDakota PS. Anyone say Leon Smith? ------------------
Hang on, Jermaine O'Neal can play! He has some serious skills. granted he is no KG, but he is solid. Problem is, he gets NO playing time behind Sheed, Grant, Sabonis, etc. ------------------ HOOP-T Hey Shaq, Acme called, and they want their bricks back! Still, YOu have to be a looney to take DeShawn at the nine this year. Maybe he does become the "next" Jordan, maybe not. Either way, you don't take him. It is certainly not the same situation as when Jordan came out. He had college experience. We myswell take Mario Austin with the pick. He is from HS isnt' he?? ------------------ When I die I want to go peacefully like my grandfather. Not screaming like the passengers in the back seat!
Dadakota, thanks for reminding me: lets sign Leon Smith! ------------------ http://www.gaffordstudios.cjb.net/
