cant speak for everyone obviously...but frankly I wish they would both shut up. in regards to someone in GARM posting about getting Starbury, I personally think that if we were to go for one of NY's shoot-first combo guards...I would definitely rather have Francis. moot point since it aint happening.
So Brown went to the Conference Finals with Haywood Workman ... you're such a badass Larry! I'm sure it was all due to your wonderous coaching efforts. Of course, Larry Bird did take the Pacers further, but you're still the King! You did it THE RIGHT WAY!
This is getting ridiculous. I don't really care who is to blame, all I know is that LB is a great coach and turned around far less talented teams. I hope they can get KG somehow and keep Stevie b/c I think LB can get Stevie to play at a great level again. As for Marbury, Just trade him and the Knicks are virtually guaranteed the playoffs next season (hell, maybe even the conference finals)...just ask the T-Wolves, Suns and Nets!
this situation is just despicable. both are wrong on this. larry has done this crap for years and this is why pretty much every single player that has played for him, hates his guts. he doesn't handle things like a grown man should. it's pretty damn simple to me. if you have a problem with a person, you go to them as a MAN and talk about it. don't go and tell the media, that just makes the whole thing worse. and you get in a situation like this. no one likes to be criticized in public about stuff constantly. people will get defensive about it, because you are criticizing what they do for a living. this is their profession and if you are constantly taking a crap on it, they will fight back. iverson did this for years with brown. simply put, brown needs to either retire or learn to handle things like an adult/professional. i understand where steph is coming from but you still can't say what he said. he should be the bigger man than brown and air his greivances in a closed setting. he comes off looking selfish and like a jerk.
I was a sports intern at KSat 12 in San Antonio when Brown was a coach there, the players hated him there too. He is a HUGE a$$hole...I am glad he is not the Rockets coach. DD
Why do you think that? Stephen has never ever been a bigger man than anything in his whole life. At least Larry Brown went to NBA finals and won championship before. Stephen was always a jerk with or without this funny drama.
After reading the posts in this thread, obviously I haven't gone off the deep end about LB. His coaching career speaks for itself, but I'm justified in disliking him more than anyone else in the NBA, maybe ever. I felt this way BEFORE these recent public tiffs with Starbury. I wonder how grateful the novice owner of the Cavs is that he was saved from his own huge mistake. I wonder how grateful Joe Dumars and the Pistons players are that LB is gone.
Problem is it's gonna be really hard for NY to move Marbury now with that huge contract. I think only NY and LA has that kind of market to be able to afford him. In the ideal world, LA would send some expiring contracts to NY to get Marbury, and NY use that to get KG. Wouldn't it be fun? KG with Steve, and Marbury with Kobe.
The thing I hate about Brown is that he is a hypocrite. Every speech of his will contain the words "play the game the right way" Yet the morals dont apply to him it seems. He berates his players, and has a monster ego. He thinks he is greater than the team yet preaches team first philosophy. Hypocrite!
Marbury is an idiot. I already knew that. But Larry Brown's public tirades is lowering Marbury's trade value (if that is possible at this point). A smart coach who cares about the Knicks would just shut up and showcase Marbury's talents in an isolated offense and hope that some sucker GM is dumb enough to give him some starters and draft picks for Marbury. But no, Larry decides it is better if he blows out all the team's dirty laundry to the media. This is definitely not about motivating Marbury anymore. This is simply Larry's ego out of control. If I were a Knick's fan I would shoot Larry Brown on sight. I may, however, give Marbury a three second head start.
Love it, LB deserves all the misery he gets in NY after the disloyalty he showed in Detroit. He has been calling out Marbury in the press from day one and I don't blame Marbury for not taking it any longer. Looks like NY has become too small for this odd couple to coexist together, it should be interesting to see what happens in NY this off-season, does LB quit, are they able to trade Marbury and his untradeable contract or do they kiss and make up?
Larry Brown is the most overrated coach of all time! I could never stand him and now that everyone has been licking his sack, I hat dislike him even more. Championships Rudy T = 2 Larry Brown = 1
if you can't even get his name right (it's STEPHON, not stephen) i wouldn't sit there and call steph a jerk, and say just because larry won a championship, he can berate his players all he wants through the media. how old is larry??? 63, jeez, when the hell is ever going to act like a grown man and handle things professionally?
