Matt Harping next year. The guy is a free agent and I think we can sgn him or do a sign and trade with Utah. He is the perfect complementary to Yao and Tracy at the 3. He is like Rick Fox was to the lakers with Shaq and Kobe.

He would be an excellent pickup (a very tough player too, so he has other intangibles). He's a big guard and can play the 2 or the 3. I've always been a fan of his.

He would be a good start, but by no means all we will need to do to improve...still a lot of other players to get rid of/players to acquire.

Bulky SF who's too slow to guard on the perimeter without fouling. And a weak perimeter shooter.

But I'm sure JVG would love him because he's "hard-nosed" and "tough."

    No thanks.

Hell yes, this guy can shoot, can rebound and plays tough.....

He would be a massive upgrade, put him at SF, and move Tmac to the 2 where he can guard less physical players.

i'm not sure if harpring is the answer.

yes he can do a bit of everything, but we need a little bit more outside shooting and good defense like Bruce Bowen.

I'd rather see the Rockets go after a younger guy with a little more left in the tank.

Plugging in older guys near the end of the career to play with 2 young stars just isn't working out.

Find someone who can grow along side them. Not necessarily be a star, but grow into a hapring type player. Look at Marquis Daniels and Josh Howard. Neither was drafted highly (daniels not at all), both would do wonders for the Rockets

to my above post: I didn't mean aquire those two specifically, but the rockets should find a quality young guy they can stick with.

I like Harpring. the only concern I have is that he gets injured a little too often.

    I'd take him though.

utah have cap space next season so a sign and trade might be an option meaning rocks could potentially retain their mle.

harpring, good d, can get to the basket, draws the foul. bum knee is a worry but could mean a bargain contract for what he can do. definately could be the reliable third scorer the team needs.

He and Bonzi Wells are the talk of all rockets fans right now because of our need of swingmen. To me they're both serviceable, but neither are ideal.

Bonzi is the SG version of Stro, better at cleaning up broken plays rather than being a reliable third option. Weak outside shot, good athleticism, and now constantly injured. If we get him, we're better off bringing him off the bench.

Harpring, IMO, is the better option. He has a more consistent outside shot, albeit not a great one. Finishing inside is one of his strengths, but that's almost negated by his weak handles. He also doesn't have the lateral speed to guard opposing SG's on a nightly basis, so we'll have to permanently move Tmac back to the SG spot.

Bottom line: they're not what we need, but they're the best available. Any takers?

You may remember him from past high school teams masking as the Golden State Warriors of 2003, 2004 and 2005. Oh Murphy, not McClure

He's not a defender, but at least he's got a good shot and can grab 10 rebounds a game. He'll create space for Yao. And with our defensive philsophy of packing the paint his lack of defensive instincts doesn't hurt us that much. He does everything Juwan does but better. 5 points and 3 rebounds better, in fact. And he's available. Not much more you can ask.

Nonsense. We should've never let Hakeem go. We would be in the playoffs today if we hadn't allowed Hakeem to go to Toronto. Imagine him producing 15ppg off the bench behind Yao!

    sura, rafer, spanoulis
    harpring, wesley, head
    tracy, bogans, rybo
    draft, smith, hayes
    yao, swift, deke

if minny offered cassell for juwan this season. maybe rocks can get joe smith (expiring contract next season) from the bucks for juwan + lampe?

with harpring and smith that's more players who can fill in the sf position.

Shelden Williams in the draft. Then package some combination of Head, Swift, Rafer, Sura's contract, whatever for a SG.

Go after Terry with the MLE. If we get him great. If we don't sign the kid in Greece. He's got to be better defensively than Rafer. And he's got to be able to shoot a little bit too.
