I saw a video of Ralph Sampson throwing down a nasty dunk at Virginia the other day. It looked like he still had a lot of his athleticism. A 7'6 and 7'4 frontline? TWIN TOWERS, BABY!
A shooter, please GOD, anybody who can hit an open jumper. I don't think I've ever seen so many missed OPEN JUMPERS in my life as I've seen in the past 2 games. I don't care if he doesn't even know how to spell defense must less play it, JUST HIT AN OPEN FREAKIN JUMPER.
Was wondering about this also. I hope they go ahead and pick JL3 back up. Also though.. Just out of curiosity, along the same lines as 'September Call-ups' in baseball, is it totally beyond the realm of possibility that we could try to bring in someone like V-Span or Badiane for the last month+ of the season, since it looks like the playoffs are no longer going to include the Rox.. seems like getting those guys some actual NBA experience would be better for the future of the team, rather than trying to get the worst possible lottery position with 'won't-be-backs' like Brunson and Lampe ..
I agree. The video record is overwhelming, and the verdict is in: Ralph can still play and has mad hops.
Well, this shows up from SI.com rumor board - it looks like the Mavs are interested in our sloppy seconds.... http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/scorecard/03/14/truth.rumors.nba/index.html The Mavericks are weighing options for picking up a player to help them through their injury crunch. While Latrell Sprewell, Jim Jackson and Fred Hoiberg are out there, three lesser-known names might make more sense: Gerald Fitch, Will Bynum and Ime Udoka. Fitch was recently waived by Houston, and the Mavericks have been in contact with his agent. -- Dallas Morning News
Jim Jackson might make some sense. For one thing, he's familiar with the system. Also, he is the one guy available that can be counted on to make some open shots.
Matt Maloney Dave Jamerson Sam Mack Eldridge Recasner Henry James Emanual Davis Joe Stephens damn we ran through some shooter scrubs back in the Dream days. those are just the aboLUTe scrubs i can remember
Henry James? And I thought all he could do was write. I don't even remember that one. That was nothing compared to the post twin-towers/pre clutch city days - Connor Henry, World B. Free, Lester Conner, Dirk Minnifield, Mike Woodson, Cedric Maxwell, Bernard Thompson, Sleepy, Purvis Short - it seems like they brought in a new perimeter player every other week until the Kenny/Maxwell backcourt was finally settled on.
A few sweet Rainbow Jumpers is exactly what the Rox need. You could use up 10+ seconds on the clock just waiting for the swish to rain down.
