My family assigned me the vacation planning duties for Spring Break and I wanted to take my parents to a park to RELAX. I am looking for something that would be ideal for camping or RVing, close to very nice rivers or lakes, and hopefully not so poplulated with thousands of others spring breakers. Can anyone help me out with any ideas. Hidden Gems are specially appreciated. Thanks P.S. Not a requirement but if its close to Austin it would be better.
Enchanted Rock is fun if you want to do something active. There are a lot of people there during this time though. You will definately need a reservation in advance. Personally, I like Colorado Bend State Park. It is only like an hour from Austin. It is sweet. There is a nice river running through the park where you can camp. They have a waterfall too. Water is good temp to swim in. I went for spring break a few years back. It is less developed than other campsites, which I personally like. We had a campsite right on the river. Bugs were not a problem either because the water is not stagnant. Bastrop is cool too, but that is more forest woody camping. More developed too which I dont particularly like. I would go to Colorado Bend if I were you. Make sure you get a resrevation for a tent site, but that does not guarantee an exact location. Get there by midday at the latest and then you will have a nice selection of river front sites to choose from. It is more open than other parks vegetation wise, however all the tent sites are pretty far apart. You wont hear anyone else and they wont hear we....We got wasted Have fun dude, let me know if you have any other quesitons. I have been camping since I was a little kid, been pretty much everywhere
