Hey now, RR, don't confuse Dragon's Lair (with Princess Daphne) with Space Ace (with KKKIIIMMMM MMMMMMEEEEEE!!!). Same company, two different games. Both kicked a$$. Oh, and I forgot to mention: the greatest Atari game ever - COMBAT! It was aptly named: that game caused more fights between me and my brothers than anything else.
Dragon's Lair and Space Ace were sweet because of the Don Bluth animation. And speaking of laser disc arcade games, don't forget the totally awesome Cobra Command! Check out Dragon's Lair Project for info, videos, and pics of Dragon's Lair, Space Ace, and all the rest of the laser disc games. (You can download videos of every level of Dragon's Lair, for instance.)
One thing to remember though is that the PS1 is about to turn 11, that's an eternity in video game years. While the tech jumps aren't as astounding now, look at the 11 year gap between Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario 64. The NES just hit 20 and the SNES is closing in on a decade of being commercially dead. Not saying my scale's better than yours, just trying to justify it.
Tempest was cool but I remember putting a lot of money in Star Castle. The winner would still probably be Galaga though.
Mappy for regular nintendo...I pretended to be sick in first grade so I could play it all day. I don't know if it was available in the US. I had it on one of those 250 games in 1 disks that my dad picked up while on business in Malaysia. It had like 10 different versions of Contra on there. In one you would have unlimited lives, in another you were bulletproof, etc.
i cant get the games in this link to work. i downloaded shockwave, not sure whats wrong??? anybody have any idea
It's still going. I have a copy of the third edition from 97. It has the origional game on it too. The first comp I played it on was an apple. I loved hunting with the space bar.
