Yeah, the Rockets looked like a team that gave up on the season in the Indiana game.

Clutch, I would put up with those jokes if we could get Gay. An uber atheltic 6-8" swingman? Yeah, that is EXACTLY what this team needs! Unfortunetly, Gay will be a top 3 pick and realistically we wont be in the top 3. So we should just forget all the Morrison, Gay, Aldridge talk as it is a waste.

Just taking a quick glance at NBADraft.net's website, guys like Rodney Carney, Ronnie Brewer, Marday Collins, Brandon Roy seems like guys that would be of interest. Wingman with "size" that can play both ends of the court and give us some more athleticism. There are some other interesting players like Randy Foye and Maurice Ager, but their lack of size is less appealing. Wouldn't they duplicate what we have in Head?

As for Redick, I love his shooting, but I am VERY worried about what kind of player he will be defensively. Can he be someone like Kirk Hinrich? Or is he going to be Bryce Drew and be overmatched physically every night?

Hey guys, those of you who believe the ROX are going to make the playoffs without TMAC are crazy. It is not going to happen. This team has two players that are great, and a bucnh of castoffs that other teams do not want. I am inclined to believe you are as good as your record! TMAC is starting an early vacation and I think Yao should join him. The Rox should lose the rest of the games and pray to the lottery gods for the #1 pick! Then, maybe then, this team can add another quality player to the crappy roster of players. Outside of Yao and TMAC, noone can even hit a jumpshot consistently and that is the downfall of this time. I have never seen a Rocckets team miss so many wide open shots in the last 20 years! And you'd think that putting the ball through the hoop is the object of the game!!!!! Dont hate because I tell it like it is!!! I wish the ROX were better too, but I am a realist, They SUCK!!!!!Becuase I feel this way, you say I am not a fan? I beg to differ!

I am glad that the players aren't listening to you..

ps: True fans don't want their teams/players to tank/not give 100% effort everytime they are playing.

pps: Tis not that I think we are uber-talented outside of Yao/Tracy, but to just want to quit is unacceptable.

If the team is so crappy what college player can turn this thing around? Not in this draft.

I'd like to think of this place as a place of optimism and positivity. We already have the media, the league and ESPN against us so why must we read such BS from a "fan".

    Turn in your CF card.

funny how one person believes that, by tanking the season and getting a lottery pick, this would-be rookie can solve all of our problems when we have arguably the best duo in the NBA when healthy. it boggles the mind, it really does.

It's too late to tank. And losing games on purpose in order to get a CHANCE at a top pick isn't going to guarantee a championship. Testing Yao and having him battle as the sole option, to give him experience as a leader and true franchise player is the real path to the title.

Letting Yao learn, grow, and get better is the most important thing now. And we can't do any of that by shutting down the season.

In no way would I want the team to purposefully lose these remaining games, but as a fan it has gotten to the point where I am not dissapointed when the Rockets lose. It is sometimes in the best interest of a team to lose as many games as possible in order to get a better draft pick, even enough to move up a few slots. It's the difference between getting Amare and getting Boki Nachbar.

It is far too short-sighted to root that the Rockets finish with a .500 record and just out of the playoffs and end up with a draft pick in the high teens, because here are the facts. There are too many teams ahead of the Rockets who are a one man team heading into the toughest part of their schedule all year. And even if by the luck of sweet muscular Jesus, the Rockets slip into the playoffs, they are not going to do any damage. As Houstonians would know with the Texans this year (I'm a Redskins fan myself) the future of the teams may be dependent on getting the highest draft pick possible. As fan it is sometimes best to take the losses now in order to increase the chances of landing a player who could be integral to the success of the team for the next decade.

Gimme Redick. We don't need the top pick. Just a better one.

And his ball-handling, and his passing, and his ability to penetrate the lane. This guy Reddick will be nothing more, nothing less than Trajan Langdon in the NBA.

I just wanted to point out that this thread was at the top of the forum when I posted this, otherwise I wouldn't have in hopes of not seeing this title on the forum when I get home from work tonight. That said:

    You suck.

Is Redick really necessary when we already have Head? :D

The Rockets are not going to tank, but they are probably not going to make the playoffs either. They should just do their best, develop the young talent with playing time, and hope for the best. They need every source of encouragement possible and a strong finish would be uplifting to everyone. There is probably no rookie out there who is going to turn this team into a contender. Although if there is, I hope the Rockets draft him. The Rockets have to be smarter shopping the free agent market this year and make some better trades. Based on prior performance, I am a bit pessimistic, but dumb luck is always a possibility. A healthy TMac is the real hope for the future.

He is the only hope for the future, if he's not healthy we can't trade him or play him. Losing a top 5 player like T-Mac to injuries would be HUGE. We could only rebuild through the draft and MLE/LLE.

Unfortunately, that guy is no longer a part of the organization, and the current head coach couldn't find the "heart of a chanmpion" if it bit him on the backside.

A solid post. I would just add that Howard, ,Bowen and Wesley,if he isn't injured, should only be used sparingly and only if it looks like we can win a game and it also looks like we might get in the playoffs. It could be valuable to play Lamphte for instance, who looked athletic and who can shoot supposedly. Although it might be wiser to depress his contact value by keeping him a secret? ;)

At least it looks like the Rockets have gotten away from only signing 30 somethings in the downside of their careers.
