Sure statistically theres guys like Diaw and David West who have showed greater improvement, but we all have seen how Yao has become a completely different player since his surgery. Would you say he atleast will get some solid consideration for it? or maybe even win it?

Only if he had started off the season playing like his last 9 games... but if he can keep this pace for the rest of the season, I think he will be close, although Diaw or West will most likely win it still.

    Doubtful.

Most Improved Player is typically only awarded to players who go from "12th man" to "solid contributor."

Unless there's a DRASTIC statistical improvement (like TMac his first season in Orlando), those who go from "solid contributor" to "legitimate franchise player" don't normally get the award.

Whether he gets the award or not Yao has improved a drastic amount this year, I dont think hell get it but I think he deserves it.

Not gonna happen. He's improved by a lot, but to win this award you need a huge change in your statistical ratio.

I realize this is completely off topic, but rocketfan21...your sig definitely confuses me.

You have Maloney and Nachbar on your "Never Forget" list, but Otis Thorpe under "Forget"?

Not only that but nowhere is listed Charles Barkley! Did he not have enough personality to remember or forget? Was he a tweener to you :( don't you remember Charles Barkley backing his big butt inside to the basket then throwing the ball out to Michael Dickerson(on your never forget list) and Cuttino Mobley(on your never forget list) for the tray all the time in their rookie years?

Why clutter his trophy case with this award when next year he will get the MVP trophy? :p

Why the clutter of MVP trophy when he will have to make room for 10+ Larry O'Brien trophy.

That's a good point. But Yao is so humble, he'll probably let his teammates keep the trophy. And by teammate, I mean Ryan Bowen.
