If Yao can play at this level (last 8 games since ASG) the whole next season, how will you rank Yao as a player:
Best Center in the NBA and top 10 player.. TDuncan KGarnett LJames KBryant DWade Shaq Dirk EBrand SNash Yao TMac who does Yao bump off? its pretty close but Yao would be top ten for sure.
If Yao is averaging 25+ pts and 13+ reb he would be in the group with Kobe James Yao Nash fighting for league mvp.
When we make the playoffs. . . and YAO continues his great play He should get the MVP . . but he won't because he did not do it 'all year' [they don't give a mulligan for injury] Rocket River
if yao is going for 25 and 13, he's a top 3 player, at least. lebron james would be first b/c he's a triple double threat most of the time. i don't know who would be the other one, but Yao would definitely be better than Duncan, KG, or Dirk.
If Yao continues his dominant to end the season and sneak us into the playoff, do you guys think he will be an MVP candidate? The reason... 1. T-Mac misses 15+ games 2. We were 17 games below .500 at one point! 3. Carrying the burden when T-Mac is goin through his personnel/back issues. 4. Played with a painfull infected toe to began the season. After all of this and we some how we sneak into the playoff as an 8th or 7th seed, I think he should at least be considered.
As you are talking about next season then Yao Ming should average about 27 points and 14 rebounds , based on the conditions which you have set. If the Rockets win the Championships then he should be the MVP and 1st team NBA as he will be the dominent big man of the NBA. Remember you must consider all the unchristian preduices that exist in our game and these forces may prevent Yao Ming getting these accolades till he becomes the most dominent player in the NBA.
And that's without even getting into the christian 'preduices'! 27 and 15? If a player puts up those numbers for a whole season they'd have a hard time not giving him the MVP trophy even if his team didn't make the playoffs. He'd be in the top 5 or so in scoring and leading the league in rebounds. If he does it and we make the playoffs, I don't see how you can deny him. However, it'll be interesting to see if he can do it for a whole season. I'm loving his play of late, but I'm not yet entirely convinced that this Yao is here to stay. God, do I hope he stays though!
Unfortunately, not even a slight chance of that happening I thinks. He's been on a tear ever since coming back from toe surgery, yet he (and the Rockets) have barely gotten any press at all. Tis as if the national press has blinders on when it comes to the Rockets and Yao :/ . I don't see that changing in the last couple of weeks of the season. Even if we make the playoffs, all of the focus will be on how we'll be crushed by the first seed; not about how well Yao's played and carried us to the playoffs. I do hope that I am utterly wrong though...
no 2-13 w/o TMac significan time missed as well and there are other players playing better all season on teams with better records It would take a lot for Yao to ever be considered an MVP candidate. Yao has to prove to be the man ahead of TMac. During the Kobe/Shaq I think Shaq got it only once (99-00)
I think we should preface the 2-13 with the fact that for about 11 of those Yao was playing with a bad toe . .or out Rocket RIver
if yao plays 25-13 for a whole season and tmac stays healthy (25-6-6) we will win 60 games. both of them will be MVP candidates.
This is some significant improvement in the way that Yao plays recently and he has led the Rockets 2-0 when Mac is out. The 0-8 thing happened early in the season when he was playing with a bad toe, and his teammates were not comfortable playing without TMac. And also remember that Rafer was out during that stretch.
Rafer was out, DA was out, Barry was out... doesn't matter though. I'm not speculating why he's 2-8 without TMac. I'm just pointing out he's 2-8 without TMac.
