A couple nights ago I saw 4 policemen chasing a 10 year-old girl around a building and then handcuff her. It looked like she had stolen a purse.

My roomate my freshman year in college bought a pound of weed in our dorm room to take back with him to New York because it was so much cheaper in Texas.

I've never really witnessed or been a part of any violent crimes. I try to stay aware and out of situations that would put me a risk to see it.

This recent Katrina related crime spree in Houston has me a little worried however. I feel safe in my home, but my wife works downtown every day.

When I was 11 I went to Walgreens with my mom, the second we walked out the door some guy started running and as he passed us he grab her purse. My mom didn't let go and while I charged his leg crying my mom was throwing a few nasty rights. He ended up letting go and running off around the corner.

It was in Aldine on 45 at the strip center where Randalls and Champs use to be.

Then there was the great Mexican/African war at Aldine High and Stovall Jr High where some guy was thrown through a Dairy Queen window after school. After that for about a week we had officers, both plain and uniforms all around the two schools when they let out for the day.

I was at my buddy's warehouse which was literally a block away from Minute Maid. We're smoking with 3 or 4 other people after work, and we're all pretty smashed. So's we sees these people walking towards us from across the parking lot of, I think the place was called the Fiesta Ballroom or something like that. When they get closer, I see it's this guy with a girl on each of his arms. All the girls there were like, "those are some dirty hoes", and the guys expressed great admiration; "dude's a pimp" and the like.
The group is now at the midway point of the gravel parking lot, and this black, mafia looking Lincoln town car with totally black windows and no plates rolls up out of nowhere. Two large men rush out of the back of the car and the chicks just take off running. I guess the mafia dudes didn't care about them, because they proceeded to wail on the poor sap who is sans company at this point. Then they throw the dude in car, they get in, and dip out as fast as they came. This all happened in no more than 20 seconds. I start thinking I'm tripping balls, and nobody I'm with is taking any action. I says "Should we call the cops?" and the guy who lived there was like "Happens all the time. Don't worry about it."

    Simply bizarre.

I was at Auto Zone yesterday picking up oil and a filter and a kid ran walked out and the buzzer went off. The kid took off, and that's all she wrote. I wonder what he jacked from Auto Zone???

In the past, I saw a car run a red light and clip the front of a car starting to go through an intersection. I took off following to get his plates, and the silly guy tried to speed up. I guess he didn't notice I was in my Stang, and he was in a truck. I quickly caught up, took his plates and got a make and model. Then I went back and dropped off all the info with the lady that got hit.

The only time I was robbed was outside a restaurant in River Oaks, 3 weeks after I'd quit the police department.

I totally forget the funniest one I witnessed. I was with my friend and his dad at a blockbuster in North Houston. This guy at the checking out starts arguing with the store clerk over some fines because he didn't have the money to pay for them and they wouldn't let him check out his movies. Finally the guy gets fed up and grabs a huge stack of movies from behind the counter and starts going for the door. The manager was like 'sir, sir' and the guy goes '**** yall ******, im out'. They call the cops and sure enough after like two minutes, three cop cars go blazing past the store.

I was working at a bank when we were robbed. One guy jumped the counter and stuck a gun to my left temple while the other guy cleaned out the cash. They caught him an hour later after the dye packs we gave him exploded in the car he carjacked. He was only 19 years old. I got a letter 2 months later saying he was convicted. Not sure what happened to the other guy.

To this day, I will not go inside a bank. Drive thru only.

I was studying on my front porch one night at 2am in college when I saw a guy get in a motorcycle wreck. I read the next day in the paper that he died. :(

not really a crime, but funny none the less...

i was in monterrey, mexico wandering around at night and i had to pee so i just went behind a bus stop. it was at a major intersection, but i was kind of tipsy so i didnt care. when i came out there were 2 cops there and they proceeded to search and question me. kind of intimidating as both cops were holding assault riffles, as is the custom down there for 5-0.

anyway, i gave them 200 pesos (about 20 bucks) and they let me go. that was the only experience ive had buying off cops - kind of fun.

i don't know if the bank robbing stories are funny or sad.

i mean, where is the security. oh yea, that's right. he's either 80 years old or 120 lbs overweight and reading his newspaper.
