If we don't win it I sure as hell don't want them to. I can't even begin to understand the logic of some of the posts here, but if I even watch once the Rox are done I'm almost always pro-eastern conf. I will never pull for the floppin' Nowhitski and crew, unless I've got money on them and I will financially benefit from it.

NO! NO! NO! NO! I detest the Mavs. I hate their cocky owner. I hate their annoying coach. I hate Dirk with a passion - he who flops, is ugly, whines, makes stupid faces, gets calls when he shouldn't, he who is ugly - I hate their team. It's impossible for me to root for anyone other than the Rockets. I really like the Texans, the Astros are alright, I don't care about college, I like the 3 big sports as a collective whole, but the only team that really matters is the Rockets. You just can't root for another team, epsecially not the Maaaavbricks. UGH.

Well, first of all, I think the Rockets WILL make the playoffs. But if they don't, or they are eliminated, then yeah I'd root for the Mavs too. I root for other Texas teams in all sports if they are not playing my favorite teams. And the Spurs have won their championships, so it'd be nice to see the Mavericks win one. Especially considering how lousy they were in the 90's, it would be a nice "worst to first" story. To those with the irrational hatred of Dallas or any other team...there is nothing wrong with rooting for another team when they are not playing the Rockets. Sheesh. Now having said that, the Lakers are minions of evil and should be tossed in a fiery pit where they will die slow painful deaths, screaming and writhing in pain. Look at the thread title and opening post. He's clearly saying he's going to root for the Mavs once we're knocked out. You're saying you root against rivals, that's all fine and good! Rooting for a Rockets rival is crap, and I don't think you can call yourself a hardcore Rockets fan if you do so. Whenever we get bounced, I'll watch, but I'm rooting for entertaining games - I don't pick a new favorite team to go for. Evan
I just don't get it Why would it be nice to see the Mavs win one? I don't care if they are in state - they are our biggest rival. I guess you missed the playoff series with them last year? The Mavs are not "nice guys" unlike the Duncan, Horry and a few of the Spurs, but that being said I still wouldn't want either to ever win another Championship. I absolutely hate Rasheed Wallace, but I'll pull for the Pistons over anyone in the West even if it means Sheed gets another ring. It's all about the Championships and if we can't have it, I certainly wouldn't want Dallas to be one step closer to the number we have or the Spurs to build on their 1/2 more lead in Championships over us.

We havn't been good long enought to have any modern rivals And you can't compare Dallas-Houston to LA-Sacramento. They met in the playoffs THREE YEARS in a row including a Conference finals matchup. The Rockets and Mavs met ONCE in the FIRST ROUND. That is not a rilvary.

I want kobe to do well this year in the playoffs if rockets dont make it.....but I HATE DALLAS the only person i respect on that team in avery johnson, just because he has taught the D and is using it effectively
