so i'll be getting a new car soon now the my jeep is gone. i want to get a new SUV, but am torn between a few choices. i would like to get decent gas mileage (hopefully 20+mpg highway), so i'm trying to stick w/ v6's. many good speakers is a must since a love listening to my music while driving (xm/mp3 would be nice), as is decent storage room. clearly i want something that is reliable, dependable, and performs relatively well.

right now i'm looking at either:
    07 tahoe (z71?)
06-07 4runner (limited more than likely)
    06 VW touerag
    ???

any help, experiences, tips, recommendations would be appreciated.

Get the Tahoe, throw on some 22's and lift it.

Wouldn't look as good on the Toureg or the 4runner

My wife has a V8 4-Runner that gets decent gas mileage.

    She loves it.

Are you ever going to take it off pavement? Do you need 4-wheel drive?

An option is the Toyota Highlander Hybrid or the Lexus RX330 hybrid if you want to save on gas. The regular versions of those 2 cars arent to bad themselves. There's also the Acura MDX, which i reccomend. I know atleast 6 familes with the MDX and they love their SUVs.

yeah, at least a few times a month. 4WD isn't a neccessity though, my jeep was only 2WD and it handled most of the stuff i put it through pretty well.

i'd love to get the Lexus hybrid, but it's more than i'm willing to spend right now. that's why i really like the new Tahoe, they get around 25mpg highway which is really impressive for any suv, really. outside of the hybrids of course.

Also, keep in mind that you aren't going to be great gas mileage with the Lexus hybrid. Lexus has an interesting strategy, which I like. The 400h, I believe, actually has more punch than its non-hybrid sibling. It definitely gets better gas mileage, for sure, but if you're expecting 40 mpg or something, its not that.

I'd go with the Toyota myself, though the new Tahoes do look neat - I think.

I have a 2001 4 runner and I honestly Love that car. True it won't look good with bigger rims and stuff but at the same time put some grill guards on it and it looks sweet and classy at the same time. It's been reliable and dependable and i have had it for 5 years now. Haven't had a major problem with the car at all. (KNOCK ON WOOD).

If you're a guy, don't get the dainty Lexus RX series... that thing is about as feminine a vehicle as a VW Bug.

The Lexus Hybrids are pretty sweet, the regular ones are good too.

For the money, I'd go with a RX. Lexus's standard package usually already comes with Leather, moonroof, 6 disk CD in dash, moonroof, and a whole bunch of other stuff.

Feminin or not, Lexus are reliable as hell and the ladies will actually think you have money. ;)

You can never go wrong with a leather and wood wheel. :D

The Limited 4 runner comes with basically the same package as the RX and has the same quality behind it, at a bit cheaper price and still looks really nice.
