I think. Its awsome. A double double sounds so much better than not a double double. Yao is a double double guy. That gives hime so much more respect. On a side note, JVG should be fired.
yao has been dominant for about a month now. great to see him reaching the next level. on the other note: JVG didn't injure yao or tmac. if healthy we would be a high seed in the playoffs. besides who should replace him this summer? there is no one better available unless PJ Carlesemo is willing to make a move. he is the spurs "offensive coordinator" and has also learned thier defense. i would take that any day.
yea, edit: Yao is averaging 9.98 rebounds per game. I would round that 8 though. Bout how its not JVG's fault about Tmac and yao bein injured, aint no excuse for my signature.
Funny you should say that- Just look at the Spurs roster, this is not a coaching issue, it is a player issue. Coaches cant do much if wide open shots are not made.
No. If you're saying this in reference to the Sixers' game, then no way. It is not his fault Rafer didn't knock down shots or guard Iverson. It is not his fault Wesley didn't knock down shots or pass to McGrady in those final seconds. If I remember correctly, he took a $100,000 pitfall for dissing the refs on Yao's behalf. It's JVG who constantly praises Yao's work ethic. It's JVG who made an unplanned visit to McGrady's house to talk to him. His style of basketball may not be as pretty as him , but I like JVG. It's not his fault we couldn't stop Iverson today. What is his fault is both of those Suns' games...
Last 5 games Yao is averaging 25+ ppg and 15+ rebounds per game. And tonight against Philly. ZERO FOULS !!! He has arrived. DD
I know I'll get flamed, but I'll still say it here. The guy is playing at a very higher level now, but he could easily play better and smarter. Tonight in the last couple minutes when we were down by ~3pts, he took three straight fade-away shots, and missed them all. That was the time he was single covered by a much smaller guy. He has to know that when the game is on the line, you need to take it strong to the hole, especially when single covered, you cannot afford to short the fade-away when you don't have the legs near the end of the game.
You are right on it, though I doubt he had the energy then. I would say Yao finally gets there once he learned how to draw fouls when he is tired.
i agree daoshi. yao's progression has been steady even if it has been a little slower than we would like. i think he will continue to improve over the years to be "the man" down the stretch.
I dont like Carlesemo's style. You cant yell at adults that are also millionaires like they are high school kids. Im not sure if he treats all his players like that but thats what I hear. Its just unproffesional, even for a coach.
The best part of Yao's game comes in teh first quarter. After each quarter, he is less and less effective. That leads to a very quiet last five minutes, where everyone wants to see him get the ball and score, and he can't. He really needs to work on that stamina. From the first quarter, you see him dominate and you are thinkin he will dominate all game, score 30-40 points. Its obvious that Yao can dominate at a whole new level if he gets that stamina going. I am talking Shaquille Oneal style dominating.
Yao has had five consecutive 20/10 games. I did a little research, and I believe these are the top 20/10 streaks this season: 20/10 streaks this season 7 - Elton Brand 5 - Elton Brand 5 - Yao Ming 4 - Shawn Marion (2 times) 4 - Kevin Garnett 3 - Elton Brand (3 times) 3 - Kevin Garnett (2 times) 3 - Shawn Marion (2 times) 3 - Tim Duncan (2 times) 3 - Chris Bosh 3 - Jermaine O'neal 3 - Marcus Camby BTW, Brand was only a point (in one game) and a rebound (in another) from making his 20/10 streak 15 games! He's a beast.
I dont get the last comment. The largest streak is 7, but at the bottom you say that he almost had a 15 game streak. Wow, that shows how impressive yao's streak is. I hope he keeps it up.
