Who cares what we prefer? Until the day we're mathematically eliminated from the playoffs (if this happens), we're going to do the same thing we've always done. Then, next year, I'll go out on a limb and say that (1) we'll actually get players who have PROVEN themselves (no more "potential" crap) and (2) it's very highly unlikely we will be without both stars, as well as Alston and others, for the majority of the season. If this happens again, then I guess we are cursed and there's just nothing we can do.

I don't think we will be able to make a noise even if we make the playoffs judging by our play and role players we have at this moment. That said, I still think the team should try the best they can. Having an extra play-off experience will help come next season, since having a late lottery pick this year isn't worth all that much, and playing bad basketball is of no good to the team and fans' morale. Hey, atleast making the playoffs will give us a chance of causing an upset however minimal it is.

    -G'day-

I think it is still too early to give up at this point of time. I see your point DeAleck but I will leave my call until Mar 18.

By Mar 18, we will meet Spurs twice and Mavs once. If we lost all these 3 games I would say we are over this season even if we won all 5 other games before Mar 18. If we could take 2 out of these 3 games, we must have turned into very good shape and I believe you will take your words back as well at that time.

Unless we somehow got the 6th seed (will not happen), even if we made the playoffs we'd most likely have to defeat San Antonio, Dallas, Phoenix, and Detroit to win the championship. It would be the most improbable playoff run in NBA history.

Re-reading my post now it seems that it may have been a little harsh towards you, so I apologize for that. Still, all I got to say is HELL FREAKING NO! It's just.... mindbogglingly inconceivable to look to next season at this point. Don't give up man, not cool.

Hell yes! Brilliant! That's exactly how I feel. I despise San Antonio, and I detest the Mavbricks. Someone else who feels the same as me; I love it.

I don't care at all. I just have to see this team make the playoffs this season. Prior to this season, it was the most excited I had ever been in my whole life for a Rockets season. I expected BIG, BIG things.... and then the injuries....sigh. :( After those expectations, I gotta see 'em make it.

It'd be tough for the Rockets with the way the outside shooting is currently, but then I just think of T-Mac+Yao. Those two at the top of their games in a playoff series, to quote the Cat, "It's Over." (ha, and I mean that in a good way - don't let the fact that quote turned out to be one of the most laughable ones ever mix you up). Whoever the Rockets were to face, I believe it'd still be a good series.

I couldn't stand our performance in the first half. I desperately needed to go to bed but couldn't bring myself to let go till we got up 67-56 in the third. That's when I went to bed, thinking, whew, we're going to win this game. 'Cause if we lose it, that makes absolutely clear that we're either not good enough, or we don't play hard enough, to make the playoffs.

Draw your own conclusions. I've drawn mine.

Maybe it hasn't been mentioned yet, but we don't necessarily need to go 19-5. Unless one of the teams ahead of us catches fire too.

44-38 would DEFINATELY put us in the 8th spot
43-39 is also pretty much a lock, as we'd probably beat LA/Minny, and have a tie breaker over every team in front of us right now (battling for the 8th spot)
42-40 may do it, again, we'd have to rely on tie breakers, which means we have to DEFINATELY beat Minny and LA in our next matchups against them to take the tiebreaker.
41-41, only way I see this happening is if we, again, win all the tiebreakers (beating LA/Minny), and LA just stays at .500 like they have been all season.

19-5, 18-6, 17-7. We can do 17-7, IMO. More importantly though, like I said, we CANNOT lose to LA/Minnesota. Because losing to LA, going 17-7, probably means that LA *unless they choke* will have the tiebreaker over us, so we'd have to be 1 game ahead of them to make it.

Best idea I saw in the game discussion last night is for our guards to step in about 3-6 feet and shoot 2's until they get their eyes back.

    last time I looked 2 > 0

Why is it other teams can catch to shoot the 3, have our defender approach, they dribble to the side and maybe one step up then, and pop it? We always seem to freak and pass. Don't our guys know how to move 3 to 4 feet with the ball or can only Steve Nash do that?

And Tmac needs to post up like Hayes and work the inside with Yao more. Put the other three around the perimeter and feed either Yao or Tracy. And again for some really dense person lurking - not every play! Add it to the mix of 3p miss 3p miss 3p miss 3p hit 3p miss 3p miss 3p hit 3p miss etc.

The Rockets are not making the playoffs, people. They can't beat Philly at home, yet somehow they're gonna turn it on from this point on and beat all the inferior teams that come into Toyota Center?

Let's not forget the 5 games remaining against the Mavs and Spurs. The Rockets will lose at least 3 of those guaranteed. That alone gives them 36 losses. They can probably lose 3 or 4 more games beyond that and still have a shot at the postseason. It ain't happening.

Now I'm not advocating throwing in the towel. Keep fighting for that 8th spot. But if they're still 4 or 5 games out come April, shut T-Mac down, give Yao some rest, and get better positioning in the lottery. And for God's sake, get some reliable outside shooters this offseason! Watching Wesley(injury or no injury) brick those last 2 wide-open 3-pointers was painful.

The only possible benefit to making the playoffs this year is maybe to get the fans excited and to get the young guys on the team experience playing in the postseason. The benefits of not making it seem far greater.

The team is bereft of talent. We're so lacking that Chuck Hayes comes in and he looks like decent player.

The team desperately needs a fiery competitor. They need a leader to get in everyone's faces, to ask Wesley what the hell he was doing jacking up those threes, to tell Yao to take it hard to the hoop, etc.

    We need Adam Morrison.

I don't think we will make the playoffs but I won't stop watching. Yao's transformation is enough to keep me interested.

I am excited about a top pick (assuming we don't blow it). We really need some shooters. I was watching Korver toss in J after J and getting very jealous....

Until it's officially over, I'll still think there's a chance.

I don't think we actually lost any ground last nite because I think most of the teams ahead of us lost as well.

People laughed when i talked about Swift being lazy and not knowing how to play consistent hoops. People laughed when i said the rox shoule super size by either signing SAR and playing him at the 3 or trading for Al Harrington and playing him at the 3 and moving T-Mac back to 2. In the offseason, the Rox need to go after Harrington, G Wallace or someone like Qyntel Woods and move Tracy to the 2. The need guys who can get to the rack and finish without having to wait on the double.. Then come off the bench with Wesley type of players. Bogans I'm pleased with along with his size, but getting some rack guys would help this team alot.

I feel the same way. Although I understand that we still have a chance to pull this thing out, I doubt it. I really doubt it.

I fear that we have dug ourselves too deep of a hole, and now we can't crawl out. We really need to go on a seven game winning streak to even have a chance, but ... it can be done.

The Lakers lost last night, so that helps.

I guess I wanted to say that I understand your frustration, and reality is slowly sinking in for me too.
