Suns Press Release - The Phoenix Suns announced today that they have waived swingman Jim Jackson.

The 6-6, 220-pound guard/forward averaged 3.7 points and 2.4 rebounds in 15.6 minutes in 27 games (one start) with the Suns in 2005-06. Jackson, who is in his 14th NBA season, has not played in the team’s last 24 games, dating back to Jan. 4 vs. Philadelphia.

“Jimmy has made great contributions to our team and has been a consummate professional. We wish him well,” said Suns Head Coach Mike D’Antoni. [READ]

I think he would be a really good pickup for the stretch run. Also not a bad 3pt shooter and good defender

    Wow....

He would be a great SF starting for us. But will he forgive us for trading him?

Does he want to play for Rockets? He was furious when traded last season.

He's been terrible this season. He couldn't buy a basket playing on the Suns. Until he got benched he was statistically among the very worst regular players in the NBA - playing on the Suns.

Father time has caught up with JJ. He provided a valuable contribution 2 years ago but those days are gone.

Won't happen, we didn't go after Tony Delk why would we go after JJ. I thought he was going to be cut, the guy wasn't able to get any minutes this year. JJ is a 2 years older and slower than when he was here.

We've been beaten by quickness and athleticsm all season. How is JJ going to help with that. He doesn't give us anything that Bogans can't do.

I love Jim. I would bring him back but I dunno how much for sure he could help. He drained the 3s for us.

He's a better scorer than Bogans. People forget that he was good in the post - very strong.

I too didn't like how we didn't make a play for Delk. JVG seems to like Head and Wesley a lot because of the defensive hustle they bring. Bowen too seems to get minutes based on hustle alone. But hustle doesn't necessarily mean good defense. Nor is good defense an adequate trade-off for poor offense. Yeah, Head hustles, but he can't shoot - neither can Bowen. And yeah, Wesley hustles, but he's still short and slow.

Anyway, if Barry can't take minutes away from Head or Wesley, I don't know where Jim Jackson would fit in.

His FG % this year is less than 1% better than Rybo. Ouch. 29.5%!

Time for Jim to go home to Toledo in Buckeye land and raise some children & grandchildren.

I don't think it would happen ... but the funny part of signing him would be that the Rockets would have the pieces that the Hornets (Wesley) and Suns (Lampe) both traded to get Jackson ... and Jackson.

I really liked him and was sad to see him go, besides sura hes the only one that I truly thought had heart. understand hes had a bad year, but maybe we need someone with his heart. I hope CD at least takes a look at this, but I wont hold my breathe. He was really upset when we traded him, maybe we can make it up to him

I assume JJ's cut frees a ro9ster spot for TT. Good trade for the Suns.

I assume, too, that TT is UFA with no Bird rights after season?

No thanks. JJ and Tmac don't work. JJ was terrible for us last year. Now, he's just older and slower, and his shot is not what it was.

Why would anyone want Jim Jackson back? The team immediately got better without him last year.
