    Quit hating on Barry.

    The only reason people don't like him is because of the stuff the press writes. And, they only write negative stuff because Barry doesn't talk to them.

    The truth is Barry is the NICEST athlete/celebrity off the field to fans. This is a genuinely nice guy. He just isn't nice to media, and that's why he gets the bad press.

    i'm a barry fan, but from all accounts it doesn't sound like he's the most fun teammate in the world. you've basically got the media, the fans, and your teammates, and he doesn't do well with 2 of the 3.

    I have to admit, my only encounter with him was in his last year as a Pirate, but he was really cool to me and had a great sense of humor. He talked to me for about 10 minutes while he was taking swings in the batting cages under the seats in the Dome. It was pre-roids or whatever it was that bulked him up because he looked nothing like the Barry we see today.
