YAO will have his first oportunity to be seriously considered for NBA MVP next year.

YAO has not had any major injuries (other than the toe) his body is almost where it needs to be and after he leads us into the playoffs with double double's every night all eyes will be on him next season!

Let us not get too far ahead of ourselves... expectation will only lead to disappointment if he doesn't get there. We should just enjoy his progression right now, and hope that his development can lead to Championship/s in the future.

Plus a strong MVP consideration needs the support of the team that is a top contender, no use putting up big numbers if your team aren't up there with the elites.

    -G'day-

Yeah. I'd like to see Yao keep up the strong play for the rest of this season before we start speculating on his MVP chances.

I would be extremely pleased if he's just nominated, it would mean the Rox are doing great and he's dominating the league at his position.

I have said it before and will say it again: the Rockets will have arrived when Yao becomes the most dominant and important player on this team, when he affects the outcome of the game more than anyone else on his team (alas Shaq in LA, Hakeem in Houston, and Ewing in NYK), this team will be a REAL contender, and not a pretender.

I am a firm believer that having a dominant big man is still the best way to go -- not the only way, but the best way, history has proven that over and over again.

Having a dominant big man stabilizes the team, gives it consistency. Unless your name is Michael Jordan, teams led by guards always have on thing in common: inconsistency and mediocrity. Kobe is having an insane year as far as his individual stats are concerned, and his team is mediocre at best, has its ups and downs; Lebron facing same issue without a dominant big man in Cleveland, their performance over the years has been up and down.

Big men are a stablizing force, and they're your best bet to win in the playoffs in the long-run.

In the case of Yao, he's not only dominant on the offensive end, but he's the anchor of our defense the way he dominates the interior, he intimidates and changes more shots than the casual observer might realize; that's something no guard can do.

Obviously, I am not saying that Yao alone can pull us up and carry the team to playoff success, he will need the right pieces around him; McGrady and Rafer were two good steps towards realizing that, they operate very well with Yao and contribute to his success and his improvement. The key now is to find two more "right" pieces in the starting lineup and the bench will be easier to come by; we already have a few players who could be very good contributors off the bench in DW, Bogans, and Swift/Howard, but we're short on the right pieces in our starting lineup.

    inshallah = with gods will
mashallah = what god wishes or what god has willed

thats kind of a translation, hard to be exact with different languages

    Insha'allah

Insha'allah basically translated = If/By the will of Allah

Mashallah literally translated basically is = What Allah wishes (tis used many a times though in a congratulatory/praise sort of sense..)

Anyways, enough of the D&D in here :p .

I think tis too soon to start having dreams of Yao being even thought of as a MVP level player. He's got a long way to go before coming to that. However, if he can sustain (and elevate) his current level of play, there is no reason why he can't get there eventually. If that will be next season, I don't know.

I can see Yao as a future MVP, the way he's picked up his game.

I want Yao to win the MVP, but before that, I want the Rockets to bring home the title.

I have a feeling that the Rockets will only be an elite team if both Yao and McGrady play well on a nightly basis and if the team steps up. Therefore, if left between McGrady and Yao, the MVP would surely go to McGrady if this team ever was an elite team.

I would like to see McGrady win it one season, and Yao another. That would be real nice. But i'm just waiting for those titles to stack up ;) .

First, Yao should lead the rockets back to playoffs before he gets any consideration.

texanskan, I know you're new. Let's not get ahead of ourselves.

Why don't we think playoffs first, then accolades...
