This is why SF would do better in smaller market city with less press coverage. I have a feeling there will be more sensationalism and the rest of the season could be pretty rough for him. Playing for LB doesn't help either. The Knicks are a circus.
Big news out of New York? Apparently, some news outlets are reporting that the Knicks will make a big announcement today at 2, drastic decisions are sometimes made after embarrassing defeats. Hmm...
Report: MSG chairman Dolan to discuss Knicks ESPN.com news services Even away from the glare of the New York spotlight, the Knicks look ugly. Madison Square Garden chairman James Dolan, who is on his annual road trip with the team, watched his team lose 121-93 in San Antonio on Monday. Dolan is expected to make a rare public statement about the state of the club this week, The Newark Star Ledger reported in Tuesday's edition. In October, when he last spoke publicly about the team, he was optimistic about the team's prospects and supportive of general manager Isiah Thomas. Thomas, who had planned a scouting visit to Europe, is a surprise guest on Dolan's trip. The Knicks have stumbled to a 15-41 record with only four wins on the road. The Knicks posted a 1-11 mark during February, their worst record for any calendar month in franchise history in which they played at least eight games. The Knicks' previous low mark was in March 1963, when they went 1-9. While no changes are expected, according to New York media covering the Knicks, the two are expected to meet with Larry Brown in Memphis before the next game Wednesday to discuss the state of the team. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2347813
NBA realignment will place them and the Hawks with the Austin Toros and Fort Worth Flyers for the remainder of the season. Evan
But he apparently did not have permission to miss the shootaround/game. In this day and age it is not that difficult to get to Orlando after a Saturday night game and to San Antonio in time for a Monday night shootaround and game. I assume the team gave him permission to go to Orlando with the understanding he would make it back in time for Monday night's game. It is a shame when Francis lets things like not having a suit or his daughter's illness affect his play (e.g. apparently not planning on showing up for a game).
it also shouldnt be that difficult for a mulit-millionaire to be able to buy a new suit. which is cheaper anyway, chartering a private jet or buying a new suit?
Superbowl Ticket: $2,000 Chartered Flight: $20,000 Laying down THE LAW on disciplinarian coaches: Priceless
Why? According to the article he had permission to fly to Orlando to retrieve personal belongings. It can also be surmised from the article that he DID NOT have permission to miss Monday's game. I used "assume" because it did not specifically say that Francis did not have permission to miss the game. Do you read it any different? Do you think that Francis had permission to miss the game with the Spurs?
He did miss a shootaround, which he wasn't allowed to do, and he is required per the NBA's new CBA to be available for the media an hour before the game. Showing up to work late on your fifth day on the job? Not sure how anyone can defend that. Not a huge deal? Probably, but certainly not worth defending.
