Well for those of you wondering why the Rockets didn't move Wesley's 5M expiring contract that's your reason. I figured a number of teams fighting for the playoffs would be calling the Rockets about Wesley. His expiring contract, experience, and they way he is shooting the ball right now are things teams want. I can't blame the Rockets for wanting to keep Wesley as he IS important to this team THIS season in our quest to get to the playoffs, but his expiring contract was the last one we had with any value and we weren't able to parlay it into talent for the future.

Good thing we didn't trade him...probably also an indication the Rox will re-sign him this offseason as a backup off the bench, which is a role he can do pretty well.

that is kind of messed up because we played the knicks twice that alone skews the records considerably

Sorry to the board I have been so hard on David Wesley at the beginning of the season for not shooting well - then. He has been shooting fine thru the middle 3rd of the season. I was critical because it is hard for him to defend taller - quicker guards.

If we could re-sign him next season for less than the 5 million he makes now-we should look at that. More than the league vet minimum at 1 mil, but not a whole lot more. He may have the most "bulldog " mental attitude quality absent Sura. We need that mental attitude- never say die to win.

I'm glad we did not trade him. Even if it means not taking advantage of that expiring contract.

The Rockets probably could re-sign him in the offseason. We will have his Bird Righs. Perhaps a 2 year deal similar to what we gave Jon Barry. At that price considering what Wesley brings to the table (and ususally is never injured) that would be nice.

Still, this team will have to find a way to get a young swingman to be a starter on their roster. See my sig. ;)

Well we probably didn't get any outstanding offers for DW, maybe 2nd round draft picks or a Damon Jones type of player, so why trade him. The Rox brass supposedly likes him and if we can sign the guy for a little bit less than he makes now, he would be a great backup. I don't think he is going to want to sign for the minimum though, the guy is hardly washed up and plays more minutes and contributes more than any min player would.

Considering Wesley was shooting something like 30% in November, he is now shooting over 40% for the season. So he'd have to have been shooting near 50% in Jan and Feb.

Everybody was so down on Wesley but the guy is probably our most consistent dude.

Defensively he gives up some inches but he still plays strong defensively. It is only against rare guys like Kobe that really lights him up ...but Kobe lights up everybody.

I dont' know about you guys, but I like David Wesley a lot. He's a good contributor to the Rockets. He is a little on the short side for a SG and doesn't really have the skill of a PG, but I like David Wesley. He's usually money from behind the arc.

    Bogans, or Head?

    Maybe.

    Or a Free agent signing.

Folks that were down on him continued to ignore the fact that he was playing out of position, on an injury plagued team, and consistently ridiculous minutes. None help your shot.

And he was coming off knee surgery, which might be the biggest factor in his early season slump.

I am really curious what teams were offering for Wesley. I like Wesley's game lately and don't want to lose him. But if we could get some good young talent, I would feel bad trading him. The writer seems to believe that Wesley had pretty good trade value.

In my view we will resign Wesley and Bogans as our 2 and 3 backups for next season. THey both give us strong mental and tough play and both our very solid perimiter and in the case of BOgans a very good postup defender to gaurd the likes of Kobe,Stackhouse,Eddie Jones,Manu among others so he is very important. Howard will be kept as a backup PF because of his shooting touch. Gerald Fitch was signed he's a 6 '3 gaurd who is lengthy, athletic and very quick so he and Alston togetrher should be able to more than contain the likes of the Nash's,Terry's, Parkers's and others. Houston will sign a deadeye 3 point shooter as our starting 2 gaurd in the offseason and will also sign a athletic tough minded power forward to. So in conclusion we will keep Wesley, Bogans,Howard,Fitch and Mutombo as backups and will add athletic tough minded players at SG and PF as our new starters in those spots. The Rockets will be right back on top in the close second tier if not one of the elite 4 in the west. I like how the team is changing for the better. Go Rockets!!!

We won't be able to get 2 quality pieces without a trade this offseason. We only have the MLE. If that Spanoulis kid comes over, we are gonna lose half the MLE on him. That leaves us with $2.5 mill or so to sign what? More one dimensional players with holes in their games.

If we don't sign Spanoulis, then we have the entire MLE. You may be able to get one front line piece with the MLE but that is it.

I suspect we will make at least one major trade for us this offseason, probably using Stro along with maybe our draft pick, and possibly Head if needed to pick up a major piece.

I'm talking about a major piece like Corey Maggette, somebody that would be the legit 3rd go to option that we need, with some size to help defend the bigger 2s and 3s.

Then we can use the MLE to try and get a quality PF, if there are any out there. Right now, I don't see any that are gettable.

No kidding. So far this month (11 games), Wesley has been on fire: 0.517 overall shooting, 0.435 on treys.

I like your analysis, but I would add that Bowen will not be back even with his hustle because the Rockets have to have more talent!

I, also, think there is a good chance we keep Head, as well, depending on his over-all play from this point forward.

Swift has from now until the end of the season to round into what we consistently need from his play as a power forward. In saying that I am not saying he is ever going to be our tough-minded bruising, power forward that we desperately need, but I think the Rockets will evaluate Swift over these next 27 games to determine if he can effectively fulfill a valuable and contributing role. I have been a Swift supporter all year long and have not changed my thinking in placing some of the blame on JVG not effectively utilizing his skills, but even I know he absolutely must bring his very best A+ game every night. In fact, this may well be the do-or-die turn of his career.

If neither Head nor Swift perform to the highest JVG level of expectation, both will be traded. The level or bar for both will likely mean their playing key roles in getting us into the play-offs...!!

Lastly, while I am hoping the best for Fitch, the jury is still out - way out - on how long he will be a Rocket...

Wes has been good for us. he has been hitting his shots pretty consistantly lately, especially that three pointer in the corner pocket.
