What is your opinion of websites, etc putting Olympic results on front page before they air? I ask because I noticed sites such as the Chronicle have had the results up on their front page and that probably has annoyed some figure skating fans who wanted to see it before they knew... it's one thing to have it under an olympics section but front page before it airs might bother some people.. Not a huge ice skating fan or anything, but just curious.
Meh, there's no way in hell in that you will be able to avoid the results unless you hide under a rock all day. I tried doing that for the world cup in 2002, but I eventually gave up because no matter what, I'd always end up seeing the score somewhere.
That was me in Europe. I had my dad send me every Oiler game while I was over there, but it took a week to get them. Even over there, I found out the result before I got the game. (gotta love him for doing that, though)
I dont think if some media have the news before everyone they not going to show it, so I think is ok.
david.. The reason I ask is because some of the newscasts have been warning you about olympic stuff coming up and having no talking when they show the results... so that you can look away.. I think everyone expects to see it reported in news stories on sports parts of websites.. I just was surprsied to see it on FRONT PAGE of newspaper sites..
I don't really care either way... I just think it's interesting that some outlets are making a point of warning you about results being told... and others are putting in front page. Maybe the news station that was warning before hand was an nbc station.. not sure
I don't like "spoilers". I know this is going to happen around this time of year, so I just have to avoid everything. After noon today, I didn't look at any news websites or watch any TV. I didn't even look at the bbs (because it was the ladies' free skate, which tends to be one of the biggest news items). Even when I was checking my email, I tried to not look at or cover the parts of the screen with news items on them. (I had found out about Carly Patterson winning gymnastics gold in Athens that way. ) I couldn't even watch it when it aired because I had to play in a concert... just now finished watching my videotape and my favorite skater won (yes, I realize nobody else knew who she was and everybody else is just upset that theirs "lost") and I'm too excited to sleep, plus I remembered some work I was supposed to get done.
