Pretend you're McHale or Taylor and Big Ticket has told you he wants out this summer. Who would you be willing to deal him for? Assume throw-ins would be added to make the money work and a pick or two could be included.
Well, that signals the franchise is re-building. So, may as well burn the house down and go for picks. Trade the rest of the team, too. I don't see how another star comes in there and wins. I'd try to get a couple of solid young guys, an expiring contract or player retirement, and a top lotto pick. So for example if it's NY - Allen Houston retires, Channing Frye and the little dunker, the lotto pick. No big contracts.
If KG didnt want to be here I would trade him and his humongous contract for any of the those other stars and capspace. I agree I would look at young talent and high draft picks.. J
not trade him. he's better than all of those players. mchale just needs to put a freaking team around him. he is wasting one of this generation's best players. definitely one of the greatest PF's ever.
I wouldn't trade him for any of those guys. If I was going to trade Garnett, then I'm acknowledging it's time to blow it up and rebuild. If that's the case, I'd be looking for a package with a young star (especially somebody like Chris Bosh or Dwight Howard if at all possible) some young guys with potential and picks. It doesn't make any sense whatsoever to trade for a lesser player in the same age range and price range, which is the case with pretty much every name mentioned. A few are younger, but will never be anywhere near as good.
Though they are completely different players, Dirk has the closest individual value. Brand and Livingston would be interesting too. Why no option for Marion? He's a 20-10 guy.
