I disagree. I always felt Slash was as much Guns N Roses as Axl was.

Most fans agree. Without Slash's guitar riffs, nobody would know who Axl Rose was. The synergy of those two is greater than the sum of their parts, though I would argue that Slash's skills bring more to the table than Axl's. GNR is much more like Led Zepplin than CCR in this regard.

    Wow, hate much?

Appetite for Destruction is widely regarded as one of the greatest albums of the 80's. GNR is widely regarded as one of the best hard rock acts ever. I don't think the comparison is that far off. Especially to two bands that broke up near the top of their game.

Who is in the band now? I think Tommy Stinson of the Replacements is in it, but I'm not sure if he's playing bass or guitar.

No doubt. Led Zeppelin and John Fogerty both know how to write good songs.

The comparison is way off. All you have to do is take a look at their volume of output. GnR will be lucky to make the RnR Hall of Fame when they are eligible. Mark it.

I love G n' R. Appetite was on of the all-time greats imo.

One of axl's major influences was Michael Monroe and Hanoi rocks. So much so that if you watch some of the old Hanoi rocks tapes you would swear to yourself that axl ripped off michael monroe (moves, clothes, ect)...

"paradise city" was a rip off of the hanoi rocks song "back to the mystery city"

Hmmm ... those two songs don't really sound alike. There is a Hanoi Rocks song that contains the phrase "Welcome to the Jungle"; guess that's where they got the song title, not sure. There was a long Michael Monroe interview up on Metal-Sludge a while back where he was talking about Axl Rose, I think.

I listened to them, they were ok. After they skipped out on the tour in 2002 I won't be buying the cd when it comes out. I am still pissed about that.

On similar note, alt.binaries.sounds.mp3.rock currently has a massive GnR related upload, including the new leaked mp3s.

    Enjoy.

the sex pistols got in and they only put out one album. (they also had a bass player who couldnt play for crap) guns n' roses lived hard and burned out quick...and they kicked ass along the way.

i just listened to bitter and twat and must say im pleasantly suprised, especially after everyone saying how bad it was. i was ready to be disapointed! that song twat sounds like a legitimate successor to the use your illusion-era stuff.

Not bad for 10 years worth of work.... Anyone have links to the other song or two that got out. I think one was called IRS.
