The gf is headed to a conference at Vandy in a couple of weeks. She's looking for some stuff to do (restaurants, bars, clubs, etc... basically anything cool or anything that's a "must see") in the campus area & elsewhere in the city (but close enough to walk or take a cheap cab ride). As my only 2 trips to Nashvegas were in the mid 90's and were dominated by alcohol & drug fueled mayhem with rich Vandy fratboys, I'm of little help to her. I know there's a few Vandy guys & alums on the board, so i'm appealing to the vast knowledge base of the bbs. Thanks.
Um...that describes my 4 years of Vanderbilt to a t, except there were rich sorority Vanderbitches in the mix as well.
Wildhorse Saloon... Opryland Hotel is cool just to walk around in, some restaurants to check out are J. Alexander's (not sure if they have them in other parts of the country) and Fat Mo's hamburgers
were and still are... I'm headed to a basketball game right now.. but I'll try to think of some "must sees" other than my apartment when I get back.. mduke... they actually just opened a J. Alexander's almost right on campus (where cooker used to be)..pretty good place... no idea if fat mo's is any good.. never been there
some downtown stuff off the top of my head.. buffalo billiards.. wildhorse saloon (if she is into that), umm a place called flying saucer is pretty popular at the moment....
buck.. I was meaning to post a lot more, but totally forgot about this thread. Still need the info, or already made trip?
Thanks Rocket Fan, she was there last Thurs-Sun. Had a blast, liked Nashville, was *really* impressed with the Vandy facilities - esp. the student center - said they blew away Rice's. Not that you Vandy kids need your ego's inflated any more. RMT, she did eat there, loved it. Need to take her to Memphis next, I always liked it better.
buck.. Sorry I missed getting back to you faster.. I was busy finishing things up before spring break and have been home for spring break and just remembered about this thread.... Well I'm glad she had a good time. The campus was probably a little empty with spring break starting up.. which was probably a good thing for her. Hmm.. I wonder which student center she was in... it she was impressed probably the new student life center, pretty nice place... they've been pumping in a lot of many to improve facilities.. Rice seemed nice from the tours I've had of it.. never gotten the chance to really explore the campus though
rocketman95.. yeah i figured either full or boring, but everytime I suggest going there people tell me I'm out of my mind if I think they are going to go listen to country song writers for hours haha
