i used to go to this barber shop on a regular basis which was 2 minutes from my house. not only that it was only 4 bucks and to my surprised the guy gave a really good cut. after the first time there, i started going over the next 2 months. then one day i needed a haircut bad b/c in two days i had an interview. and wouldn't you know it, he's not in. buuuuuut, his mother is. and like with alot of asian hair stylist, english was not her first language. so i sucked it up and said to myself, go ahead she can't be that bad. OMFG!!!! she freakin' butchered my head. i came out looking like an asian Samuel L. Jackson from Unbreakable. i paid with no tip, went straight home, cried a bit, and shaved the rest of my head off.
Does it look like this? Unfortunatley, this happens a lot, even to me...YOu think, ok, it can't get any worse, and it does...Although, I happen to try to clean up my hair myself and sometimes, I end up F'ing it up more, and then go to get it fixed...Hell, go somewhere else and get a ceasar cut vs. the goofy nerd cut...
As a last resort, I went to get a haircut close to home at a shop run by a Vietnamese woman. After a brief greeting and a shampoo, I proceeded to tell her the style in which I wanted my hair cut. As I was in the chair the conversation ensued and the style in which to cut my hair was assumed going to plan. As she was finishing up, I realized it was not going accordingly and looked nothing like what I had intended it to be. But nevertheless, I did not worry about it and went about my business. A month or so later I went back and this time I went with a different cut than the last time. This time around I paid more attention to what she was doing, but as we talked she just kept on cutting and cutting. I thought she may have been cutting too much, and at one point I had to tell her to "stop cutting". Too little, too late. When she finished, to my surprise, I realized that it was nearly the exact same haircut as the last. I have since decided not to return to this place as it does not matter what I am asking for in a haircut, the style comes out looking like a 10 year old Vietnamese kid's.
This has to be a joke. Your "regular stylist" isn't available, so you go to an Asian place? I took pride in getting $3 Vietnamese haircuts while I was in Houston, but I am not a guy who has a regular stylist nor do I need one. You couldn't even go to Visible Changes or Regis or Toni & Guy. These mass-market places have people who speak English. Sure you would pay a little more than $20, but at least you wouldn't look like Ward Cleaver. Now if you will excuse me, it is time for my 2PM tan and manicure....
