The more i think about this, i think that Francis could help this team, but he would have to change, and i dont bank on change. Looking at other players on the trading block, making roughly the same money, i'd rather spend the money on a Carlos Boozer, he wouldn't have to be a top 2 scoring option, he is a smart player Gundy likes and he cleans the glass up, the only question will be his injuries, making roughly the same money as SF he would be a big upgrade. (wesley + swift works) If we wanted to fix the 2 guard spot i'd rather spend the money on Jamal Crawford, he has the size to play the 2 spot and has almost equal point skills as SF but has already resigned to being a 2 guard.(wesley + anderson) Its not that i dont think Francis would help, i just think there are better fits available in free agency.
If the rockets are serious about getting and spending around SF3 salary, they might want to look at ray allen. eventho he's older. I think hes a better player. SF3 is too expensive for what he produces.
Yes, Boozer is cursed for the way he screwed over Cleveland. It is obvious that his injury was a DIRECT result of that. We need a guy like Craword. Fast, athletic, and can shoot. DA was supposed to do that but he can shoot at only about 9%.
would people stop smoking the jamal crawford buddha! if you think DA was bad, you don't even want to see crawford step on the floor. he'll do nothing but chunk up BAD shots, early in the shot clock, and make less than 40% of them. not to mention he plays matador defense and can't rebound.....
Francis sucks arse. He could help us win the lottery, then make a trade for another first round pick and a veteran. That's about it. With that said, maybe picking him up isn't a bad idea. If we don't make the playoffs in at least 7th position, I say to hell with a moral victory and reload for next year. A first round and out entrance would be depressing, but if we go into the playoffs with the 7th seed, we WILL beat the Mavericks. I live in Dallas, and the Mavs are so worried about the Spurs they are talking about trading Keith Van Horn for Antonio Davis (my boss is neighbors with Mark Cuban's brother, so that's better than second hand information). We have enough size to beat the Mavs PROVIDED that we play defense. And we will have to pay attention to Josh Howard, who is as good as Joe Johnson although without a passing game. The Mavs also have more depth than we do healthy, but if we can ride Yao and T-Mac and get SOME help from the other starting three and the bench, we can do it.
