With all the teams that are interested in Stevie, I think he is gone by 2/23. The T-Mac trade for Orlando will now go down in NBA history as one of the worst ever made with the departure of SF.

    Hmm...

A Kobe-Stevie team would be even more interesting than a Stephon-Stevie team.

Why would the Lakers want to do this? It doesn't make much sense to me because I think Lamar Odom is a better complimentary player to Kobe. I'd certainly love to have him on the Rockets.

WTF?!!! This doesn't make ANY sense whatsoever, why would the Lakers get rid of a better complimentary player who can do more things on the court, has more size, and can play more positions for a player that's getting the max and needs the ball in his hands to be effective?

No way Kobe approves of this, or if he does, it will be fun watching him and Stevie in the same backcourt...Heck, I am rooting for it to happen, it will be even more entertaining than a Starbury/Franchise backcourt.

I really hope this trade happens. Kobe and Stevo will compete for who controls the ball more. Real chemistry problem for LA--hope they get rid of ODOM he is a matchup problem for us in that he is a mobile, quick big man - a la Garnet-very difficult to contain when he is on.....

Steven A. Smith last night on Sportscenter mentioned that Francis doesn't want to be traded to either Denver or New York, even if "there's a loaded gun to his head". No idea if this means he doesn't want to be traded period, or just to those two teams.

It's pretty obvious that Minnesota is where he'd be willing to go, but they already delt Wally World and he would have been the main part of a trade for Steve.

This makes sense for the Lakers if they have completely given up on Odom. I'm almost to the view that Odom and Kobe will never make it work together. Odom and Kobe just don't click. Odom will be a much better player somewhere else than on the Lakers. Maybe PJ thinks he can get inside SF's head because playing a clear 3rd fiddle to Kobe and PJ will be something brand new for him. It could be very difficult and if Steve sulks like he's doing now, the Laker fans will have no mercy on him at all.

Steve would fit best in a lower octane media market like Denver. The Knicks would be worst and I shudder to think how the New York media would treat him. Plus he'd have to play for Mr. Moodswing, Larry Brown. How would he react the first couple of times LB calls him out in a press conference? And he thought JVG was tyrannical.

Did everyone else skip the part of the article where it says "The Rockets might make a dramatic trade" to get Francis back. Who could the Rockets be willing to give up for Francis?? My guess would be Wesley and Stro??

I don't see that happening. I could understand our interest from the standpoint of getting in the way of player movement to get somebody like Lamar in here. If I was CD, I'd be trying to convince those 2 clubs to send Lamar here and let us send Stro, Luther, DA, and 2 future #1 picks to Orlando in exchange for Stevie going there. I think Lamar would blow up here.

It seems some folx/experts have a higher opinion of Francis than the BBS.
[sort of like some Experts think more of Carr than the BBS]
    but
    hey . . what do they know. . ..

My Opinion is perhaps we too harsh on our own
I'm harsh on Carr . . mainly because I hold him to the same standard
    folx hold Fancis . . . .

Everyone said NO EXCUSES FOR FRANCIS . . HE DID NOT GET IT DONE
I say the same thing for CARR

    all that being said

I think people would be surprised how well Francis and Kobe could co exist.
    Esp at the Triangle

REMEMBER the triangle does not require a TRUE point guard
    [See Ron Harper]

I would expect to see Kobe at the 3 some. [not good for us because that
forces TMac trying to guard him full time.]

I love Steve and hope that he is sent to either Minnesota or LAL. Steve is a great great talent, but he needs to play in a situation where he by far the second best player. I think that Francis can be one hell of a wingman for a Garnett or Kobe level player. The main problem with Steve is that every team he has been on has had abetter chance to win with him trying to break his man down. What is lost in all the Stevie bashing is how horrible those teams were. Good luck #3, I hope everything works out.

Can we get in on this deal and re-route Odom over here. We could slot him right in at PF, and give him some time backing up T-mac also. Give Orlando, Stro, Wes, and a Draft pick to replenish the one that they're sending to Detroit.

On the one hand, for Orlando they'd miss out on the potential for a pretty killer frontcourt with Odom, Howard and Darko. But on the other hand, they already have Grant Hill at the SF and would be able to use the money they would be paying Odom to get some backcourt help.

I'm all for this! This will give Houston 3 quality play-makers in T-mac, Rafer and Odom.

I think the biggest malaise this season for H-town are the injuries. Despite the flaws with the team, it is good enough to get in the play-offs but not win it all.

They're eventually going to get fran vazquez from spain whenever he decides to get his ass over to the NBA. I doubt that they could use odom, howard, darko, vazquez and grant hill.

As well as Smush Parker is playing he is no Steve Francis. I think the tandem of Francis/Kobe would make a very dynamic duo and mostly relieve pressure off of Kobe. Odom is arguabally having his worst season as a pro. he doesn't benefit playing aside Kobe (not sure many can) and he needs a change of scenery in the biggest way. I like M_cables' idea of the 3 way bringing Odom here. CD make it happen!

Odom will not take the offensive initiative if he isn't the man all the time. He usually reverts back to supporting stats and the spot up three when someone else takes control.

The guy can be a smooth ball handler and great post up option if no one else on the team can do it better.

Maybe it's a consistency issue with his roles during a game.

Anyone paired up with Kobe will be the whipping boy for the Laker fans when they burn to the ground...

Odom is moving in the direction of getting where MArbury is
    on the OVERRATE list

I'm tired of hearing about his potential
what does he PUT ON THE COURT
