You'd think Yao would get at least 2-3 rebounds by raising his hands. How do you get ZERO boards when you are guarded by a 6'8" small forward? Someone needs to lit a fire under the bigman's a**.

deepblue--did you get a chance to watch that game last night?

Although I do agree with you about the rebound thing - Yao was swarmed by three players everytime the ball was anywhere near him.

In order to get zero rb ounds you must first go to the top of a great mountain ion New Guinea and ask the advice of the great sunset marmaset who controls the control box of the concord snapping canaries who wilst sneep wilt put thy beaqks in thy throat.

    1. Yao's a one-space rebounder. Being tall doesn't help him when the ball doesn't come directly at him. He just doesn't have the quickness to cover a lot of ground.

    2. The Suns just weren't missing. Their shooting percentage in the first 3 quarters had to be pushing 60%

    3. The Suns are also a jump-shooting team so there were a lot of long rebounds that went away from Yao inside.

Yao is what he is. Decent rebounder by the numbers (his rebounds per minutes aren't too bad. He would be in the top 20 in rebounding rate if he played enough games). But he's not an instictive rebounder, and relies on "how the ball bounces" more than most. Consequentially, he'll have clunker rebounding games if the ball isn't coming at him. But in the end it all evens out and his rebound numbers look adequate when looking at his season averages.

this is kind of petty. you can go through every single player on the roster and say what in the hell is the matter with them? that happens when you get obliterated by 34 points on national tv.

    yao sucked
    tracy sucked
the entire team sucked and could care less that they did

there's the short yet accurate analysis of the game

Question: How do you get 0 rebounds when your 7'6"?

Answer: Have a 3.5 in vertical and be the slowest person on the court. ;)

    It's not an excuse, it's a reason.

If they dont' miss their jumper, there is no rebound. Everytime he touched the ball it was a quick double/triple team. Everytime he was on defense he had to *try* to guard kurt thomas who was very far from the rim shooting j's. No rebounds to be had. In any other game, that is unnacceptable. However, everything was unnacceptable by the Rox last night.

i bet if he just stood right underneath the basket, he would get one, but no, he has to stand five feet from the basket, behind steve nash, the leagues MVP

I am not an expert, but frankly I think Yao is a good rebounder. If you actually watch the games, you will see that Yao does his job and does it extremely well. Yao will textbook box his man out on every play. He does what every coach in the world teaches and that is boxing your man out. Many times Yao will have his man boxed out and then someone else's man will come running in and grab the rebound. Many times Yao boxes his man out only to have an open lane for a teamate to grab the rebound. Yao is not the fastest guy on the court and does have trouble moving to the ball at times, but he is a textbook rebounder in that he does his job of boxing out every single time. If the rest of the team did that, Yao would have more rebounds and so would the rest of the team.
