I still wonder how much Carmelo or Wade would have been used under Larry Brown. They wouldn't have a position to play. They would have never started under his system and been backup to Billups, Hamilton, or Prince. Brown would never have started them before his normal rotation so it's kind of hard to say. It's a blown pick for the pistons but i won't rule him a bust until he plays.
well it seems like the guy would have had to learn a thing or two from being around that many good players.
I think Darko has his best chance now to become a player. While it may not happen, don't forget the Jermaine O'Neal career curve. I busted on him forever and then had to eat some crow. Magic can afford to throw Darko out there all game and lose a little, unlike Detroit. He's seriously not a stiff at all, and can get a couple of blocks. Detroit getting a lottery pick out of the deal seems more than good enough, even if this coming draft isn't much to get excited about. Evan
Yes, but word on the street is that Joe D is shopping for another PG b/c Lindsey Hunter alone is not going to cut it. Actually, from what I've heard, Joe D was really hesitant to let him go. He was one of the best back up PG's in the game. Also a definite crowd pleaser. Actually I was really hoping that Carlos Arroyo would come play for Houston. I believe TMac and Yao would greatly benefit with having him and vice versa.
I doubt he was much of a crowd pleaser when he was a complete liability against the Spurs and during other playoff games. He was having trouble bringing the ball up the court.
Mike James and Arroyo had their playoff minutes taken by Lindsey Hunter (who for all his offensive faults is a game changer defensively). Arroyo is a very talented player, but he needs an uptempo attack to be at his best. In Detroit, he didn't fit very well because he killed the ball movement in the halfcourt. He would pound the dribble for 15 seconds instead of rotating the ball around the court. His minutes were dwindling even without Hunter being activated because of this and there is no doubt he would have been all but out of the rotation had he stayed, Detroit may make a move for a point, but they won't give up much to do it. If they have to they will go with Hunter (who would get most of the minutes anyway) and play a big lineup with Delfino, Prince and Rip at other times. They are also fairly high on one of their second round picks this year, Alex Acker. He'll be the emergency guy this year, but might be the main backup next season.
